I've got For Your Own Special Sweetheart, and its pretty good in a 7/10 way, there are better post-hardcore bands from around the same period though, granted this judgement is made upon the strength of one album.

Yeah I would rate the album about the same, maybe up to an 8. Their final album, Jawbox, is pretty good too, if not a little better (though more polished). Their second one, Novelty, is good but I'd rate it a little lower, and don't really like their debut, Grippe.

To be honest I enjoy J. Robbins' later projects better, Burning Airlines and Channels. Better melodies I guess.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Is Channels as good as Burning Airlines? Mission: Control! is up there among my favorite post hardcore albums. Sadly I can't recall listening to anything by Channels yet.

it's probably their best work, i'd say you probably have an apt estimate of them though. i used to be in love with them a few months ago, can't say to care either way about them very much now.

i know what exactly what you mean...bands of the same era like Fugazi, Rodan, Slint & Drive Like Jehu shit all over them.

Totally, if you put FYOSS up against something like Today's Active Lifestyles, Repetition or Rusty there's only going to be one winner.

I've never seen Slint as Post-Hardcore, bit of a moot point but interesting all the same.
