Default Jawbox

I have recently become aware of the glory of Jawbox, and I am interested in finding more music in a similar vein.

Cornflake Girl is dope. I don't really know what quality you're looking for though in similar music. Maybe you'd like Quicksand?

It seems Quicksand is okay though I think their guitarists former band Gorilla Biscuits was better....

Agreed. I'm actually not a huge Quicksand fan myself.

You already listen to Jawbreaker, I'm guessing?

Unwound, Polvo, Juno are kind of sort of similar.

I'll second all of those, especially Juno. They don't get enough credit.

Closer to Jawbox, however, would be J. Robbins' bands since the break-up of Jawbox...Burning Airlines (two albums) and Channels (one album and one EP). I recommend everything by both.

Additionally, I would point you in the direction of The Casket Lottery, The Dismemberment Plan, Faraquet, Fireside, Fugazi, Seven Storey Mountain, mewithoutYou (not their latest, though), and 31Knots.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

If you like Jawbox (and you should) then you should check out other contemporary Dischord bands -- we called them "melodic hardcore" back then -- such as Gray Matter, 3, Holy Rollers, and Shudder To Think.

Woah...I just discovered that Jawbox reunited and performed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. They have no plans to record or even tour, they just did a show to promote the re-release of For Your Own Special Sweetheart, I think. Videos here, I am about to watch. Savory aired and the other two were done in rehearsal.

Jawbox Reunion: "Savory"

Jawbox Reunion: "FF=66"

Jawbox Reunion: "68"
