That's exactly what I really like about Oasis. Plus I really like the timbre of Liam's voice. Noel's is really good too.

Feel welcome to play them whenever I'm in there.

Plankton 05-13-2015 10:02 AM

Yeah, I guess that was kind of mean.

But still... I can't stand his whiny voice. It sounds like Jim Carey in Dumb and Dumber doing the most annoying sound in the world.

I don't hate the group, I just think they're incredibly boring.

i would say no.

i've never liked Oasis, nor have i even understood the appeal.

I mean, the people interested in discussing them obviously have different interests to me, so how relevant is my "they're crap"-opinion to them? And what will me telling them it's crap add to the forums, other than possibly telling them that people like me are judging their taste thinking it stinks and are prepared to casually shame them for it?

That doesn't mean a "they're crap" post has no value, but it needs more substance than just that simple statement.

I also think it should be possible to discuss all music on musicbanter without feeling like you're under attack, so I've no wish to alienate people who like music I don't like.

And depending on what you're looking for, there can be lots of things worth serious consideration about The Backstreet Boys. Talented people have written songs for them, produced them, marketed them - and they were a success.

edit :

My first post earlier in this thread is more or less my spin on the one Frownland did.

But this isn't an Oasis fan thread, it's a thread specifically asking if they're worth bothering with or not.

You don't understand the appeal of simple rock and roll which builds to an anthemic chorus?

^ This is especially important when dealing with New members who just want to belong to this community.

i remember being new here and making a Nirvana thread and members here alienating me and making me feel foolish for liking them.

That caused me to have a horrible 1st impression of the site.
If it wasn't for members like Pedestrian and Janzoon who were courteous and welcoming i probably wouldn't be here

It still does little to improve on the quality of our dear forums.
