I remember two things from this year (96):
-Leaving my first sleepover because the girl kept asking if I could feel Jesus Christ holding my hand and it freaked me out
-Thinking I got kidnapped when an old couple approached my parents at a diner and said I was so cute and could they please have me for the day and my parents LET THEM TAKE ME.

I have similar memories from around that age, but it was my bible thumpin relatives and someone my Mom used to hire to baby sit me and my brother.

Mods! A group of troublemakers have derailed this thread and are now trolling on the uncomfortable topic of age. Can someone lock it down, please?

(In my case, 1996 is not a year that conjures up memories of my childhood: I was 42 years old and taking a son of my own to playschool - and tbh WWWP, I would never, ever, ever, in a million years never hand my son off to random strangers for the day. )

I remember later in life bringing it up to my parents and they were like "yeah we started regretting it when we watched you drive out of the parking lot but I guess we dodged a bullet."

And now I have attachment issues haha.
