the 70s. that era was truly his greatest.

The weekend before last I saw Fela!, the musical they've made of his life story. Pretty good really as far as musicals go. I thought they performed his songs well and the guy who played him was great. It's kind of rekindled my interest in Fela now. I had owned two of his albums for many years but since seeing the play I've gotten seven more, all of them wonderful. The real standouts so far are Expensive Shit, He Miss Road and the album he did with Roy Ayers, which is a little different but well worth your time if you haven't heard it.
