Fela Kuti
I have been into this guy for many years now. He was born in Nigeria in the late 30's and used his music as a way of dealing with the extreme socio-political problems. His music was incredibly upbeat, sexy and funky. accompanying traditional african rythmns with funk, soul and a little bit of jazz. His discography contains over 50 albums over a 30 year career and he played many instruments himself. I have seven of his albums and they are so infectious, my PC is acting up at the moment so I will upload when i can.
Just audio, but it gives you some idea: |

No surprise though if his music includes Funk/Soul and Jazz. I'm always interested in hearing fusion and crossover stuff and this worked quite well. I'd be interested in an up, when you have the time mate. |
I found this one. I have this, so can highly reccomend it. His albums usually only had a few long tracks (at least 7 mins+), but worth it.

Had a chance to listen to this Right Track?

my myspace song is "trouble sleep wake yanga am" and it is amazing.
I <3 Fela Kuti. |
If anyone is interested (and has access to it) eMusic has a bunch of his stuff...its a steal too since a subscription goes by how many mp3s you download and the dear man's albums were all roughly 4 tracks, each at least ten minutes long it seems...
|
I now have seven of his albums. It's a long road but I'm determined to get them all!

The link still works jackhammer, so I'm having that. :) I've also removed it for obvious reasons. Cheers. |
