It's more than a state holiday my friend. It's pretty much worldwide.

Does every thread have to end up arguing poxy frigging religion. If it was banned tomorrow the world would be a far better place for it.

Yeah but if I made a generalist statement assuming that things in the states occured everywhere then you foreign clowns would be all over me for that too.

even though this thread got off topic i thought i'd say a word or two.
a while back i too resented non christians for celebrating christmas ( i also don't exactly understand what they're celebrating ) because it seemed very hypocritical. but now, i don't really care, let everyone enjoy christmas in what every way they want. i think christmas will always be a bit more special for christians, for me, it's easily the best holiday of the year, we decorate the tree and make the nativity scene beneath the tree ( i wanted to post the pictures badly but my camera ran out of bateries just before i went to transfer the pictures to the computer ) and on christmas eve we go to church. i can't imagine christmas without the religious aspect. i still resent the fact that christmas has virtually been nutered and made to conform with the capitalist demands, it has become a dream come true for the capitalist way of thinking, shop till you drop because material things are the only thing that can make you happy. well boys and girls, here's a little shocking cultural exchange moment, there is no tradition of giving presents to each other in Croatia on christmas. santa claus doesn't exist here. what we do have is saint nicholas on december the sixt and he brings gifts to little children, also, on christmas day, baby jesus brings gifts to small children, my neice ( 9 ) still gets a kick out of it, sadly , she'll soon find out the truth. so no gifts for grownups, just a big meal on christmas day and the whole family being together.....(exuse the spelling, my sister's laptop is shit slow and i can't be bothered to spell check it )
