I believe that love is a choice, and something you have to work at, but I also believe that it is entirely possible to "fall in love" at first sight. My wonderful step father and mother basically had that happen, and were discussing their new life together... the very first day they met. They had some bumps in the road, but they're still married and much more in love now than they were when they met.
And my step father's dad basically decided he was going to marry my grandmother the first time he saw her on his campus when they were in college. They're both 78 now and got married in their 20's, so it worked out fine. I have also seen where people are in lust at first sight, and think that's what love is... that never goes well. Anyway, but personal opinion is to not trust that "love at first sight" feeling, mostly because it's never worked well for me. I still believe it happens, but it's VERY VERY rare, and can always fail after the magical feelings go away, and reality sets in.

I fall in love at first sight all the time. It's usually when I'm hungover. I see a pretty girl, smile, and then think about having sex with her. Hangovers tend to bring out my inner hopeless romantic.

Hey, now. Casual, emotion-less sex isn't so much my bag anymore. Unfortunately it's all I seem to come across these days, so I'm taking a bit of a Sabbatical, if you will.

I feel like we all have a big number of people that we see in our lives that upon first sight we get this feeling. BUT one of those many people ends up being someone we eventually love or date or marry or whatever. So we say its love at first sight. It's like when you're a stoner. And it seems like you look at the clock more often when it's 4:20 than other times. But really, you just remember seeing the 4:20 on the clock because it's one of the few meaningful times. That analogy sounded better before I wrote it. It's also 4:20 and I'm really really high. |
