Feminism

Does feminism have a place in our society?

We can vote, we can have jobs, we have educations... so is it still a valid cause?

Feminism is really annoying.

right-track 05-05-2006 03:27 PM

Feminism lost it's femininity, years ago.

bruise_violet 05-05-2006 03:28 PM

Haha I don't think that the extreme feminism is needed. No burning bras or anything, we really couldn't live without those.

Some guys think girls are objects of lust and sex, and nothing more. Some guys I know think that girls are for cooking, cleaning and making babies. It's not the 1920s anymore, some guys attitudes gotta change!

swim 05-05-2006 03:28 PM

I dont care for the stereotypical girlish mindset so, no.

Why talk about Feminism when you can talk about Maninism.

And I kind of agree. See women are given all this power and respect in society thesedays but they continue to steamroll us as if they still get nothing. Listening to a team spirit rally by a feminist activist group is enough to give a bloke brain damage.

bruise_violet 05-05-2006 03:32 PM

Yeah thats also true.

It's very few guys who are still old-fashioned about women.

Exactly ^
The original feminists, Pankhurst etc, fought for the right to vote and for women to be treated equally.
I'm all for that, it's only fair, but the ladettes of this world piss me off.
Some women can't stop at equal rights, they seem to want everything.

Example...Thatcher was the first Prime Minister and she had the golden opportunity to bring a women's touch into world politics and what did she do...behaved more aggressively than a bloke.

Emily Pankhurst must have been spinning in her grave.

Merkaba 05-05-2006 03:45 PM

Billy Connolly says it best:
Quote:

'Women are demanding things these days: "We want things!!! Do things to meee!!! We want this, and that, a share of this, some of that, most of this and fucking ALL of that! And thats not all! We want it NOW! We want it yesterday, and we want more tomorrow. And the demands will all be changed by then so fucking stay awake!'"

bruise_violet 05-05-2006 03:45 PM

I hate it when they want more than what men have. They fight for equality... that's not equal. :usehead:

Someone has to bake me a pie.

bruise_violet 05-05-2006 03:58 PM

God I'd make a **** feminist, I would do that for a guy

hiu 05-05-2006 04:00 PM

Real feminists should have beards and growth under their arms.

bruise_violet 05-05-2006 04:01 PM

Yeah I couldn't have that. Ever.

midnight rain 01-29-2010 10:09 PM

Sorry to necro an ancient thread, but it was the only feminism thread I could find on MB (except Boo Boo's infamous, but closed, thread).

Who else think's Maddox's take on the subject is hilarious (and oh so true)?

Will the feminists ever stop their incessant bitching?

Astronomer 01-29-2010 10:44 PM

Oh god, please don't revive this. I'm not even going to tempt myself to comment.

midnight rain 01-29-2010 10:49 PM

Haha what's wrong with it? I assume you and Boo Boo got into a heated debate which culminated in your banning?

Read the article, it's pretty funny.

HeartsMadeOfStrings 01-29-2010 10:57 PM

Modern day feminism goes too far - leave it at equality.

The Fascinating Turnip 01-30-2010 02:04 PM

I think women getting mad about our species being referred to as Mankind is a definite sign that the whole thing has gone a tad too far -.-'

stormjh 01-30-2010 02:13 PM

Most feminists don't want equal rights, they want more than what men have, and they can all jump off a ****ing cliff.

Also, girls who get all stressed if you're polite and hold a door open for them or something, that pisses me off. (I do that for guys aswell, stop going mental)

duga 01-30-2010 02:32 PM

dave chappelle summed it up best.

Anyone who says feminism doesn't have a place in today's society, I would like to direct you to Iran.

yeah...it is kind of sad that whenever this argument is brought up that people only consider western society and forget there are whole chunks of the world where women are actually treated like property.

Astronomer 01-30-2010 05:22 PM

Exactly. Feminism still has a long way to go in many instances.

I usually maintain my objectivity by being an asshole to everyone.

Who the **** does that? I hold doors open for people behind me, idgaf if they're male or female, it's just being polite. I can't ****ing stand people with bad manners, it drives me insane.

Also, as this is relevant

I ****ING HATE BIKINI KILL
I really cannot stand the type of ''I'm taking charge of my sexuality! I **** everyone and I can **** like a man!" golly jaysis, is that ever gross. I'm very in charge of my own sexuality, but this is why I own sex toys.

I always cop **** from feminists I know because, I ****ing LOVE staying in the kitchen and I aspire to be a housewife. Cooking and cleaning and taking care of children all day? Shit yeah! I also think pants look kind of gross on women, I think we should all go back to wearing dresses

It's funny too, a lot of the feminists I know, when they're mad, they call each other fat/ugly, which kind of undermines the whole feminism thing.

I really also hate Germaine Greer, for saying that transexuals, MTF, are not welcome as females to her. Well **** it, if you feel like a woman, then by all means, baby, be a woman

Are you saying men should jump off a cliff?

Urban Hat€monger ? 01-30-2010 09:48 PM

I'm all for radical feminism

It gives me an excuse to be as chauvinistic as possible.

I look at it as re-addressing the universal balance of things.

Can I just say that it doesn't outright say that women need to wear hijabs, it is left up for interpretation.
And I don't think my religeon (or lack of one) is better then anybody else's, I just don't think that radical religeon should be shoved down the throats of an entire country. Actually, I don't think its about religeon at all. I think its about power.

The original cause, what the original women stood for, was equality. Anyone who doesn't respect that, shouldn't be alive. Women & Men should be equal. But that cause was completed years ago and now the group has turned into a cult. It's like a guy, who tells a joke. Everyone laughs. And he says it again. They laugh again. Then he repeats the joke over and over again and doesn't accomplish anything but hatred from the other individuals around him.

Now it's just a guest who is overstaying it's welcome.

Yeah, because taking away someone's life because they're bigots is the solution to everything. Way to be rational.

Of course I did, how the hell is that supposed to be "figurative"?

It's nothing personal, it's this idiotic intolerance that you projected.
