Iraq and Saddam


George GallowayIn the late 1970s, Galloway was a founding member of the Campaign Against Repression and for Democratic Rights in Iraq (CARDRI), which campaigned against Saddam Hussein's regime in response to its suppression of the Iraqi Communist Party. He was critical of America and Britain's later role in supporting Saddam during the Iran-Iraq War and was involved in protests at Iraq's cultural centre in London in the 1980s.

I don't see abortion as murdering babies. For starters, the babies are not independant yet, it's a part of your body, I see an abortion about the same way as cutting your nails.

Then again, I understand people saying, that it will eventually be a human being. But my view about that, is that most people wanting an abortion, want it because they can't take care of their baby. And the baby would probably be better of not being born, than being born to (for instance) a teen.

Then you have people saying that people will use abortion as birthcontrol. But that's the fault of the government. They do not give proper sex education in America. And I don't think teens can get the pill behind their parents back right? If you started with improving those two, you'd have fewer unwanted pregnancies, and THEN I think it's fair to make abortion illegal.

I myself think it should be a person's own choice. Rather than a choice made by the government.

Well, looking at those two I get the feeling that (I've I've judged it correctly, which maybe I haven't) that Galloway does tend to go in the right direction, in terms of what he's trying to achieve, but goes about it in an often extremely clumsy way.

Galloway wasn't responsible for supporting Saddam's regime in the 1980's, the UK and US governments did that. Then, when our governments decide they don't want to be associated with the regime and impose sanctions instead, Galloway is the one who goes over to start a dialogue to try to improve the situation. Well, that's one way of looking at it at least.

If you take it in this way, the main problem with Galloway is that whatever he tries to do, he tends to **** it up because he's not the most subtle or tactful guy. When he tries tact, he only makes it worse (with quotes such as the 'naming their babies after you' one).

I get that people don't agree with me on this. Read the rest of the post, it's for people who aren't as extreme on this as me.

By the way, on the other page I saw you were against homosexuality? May I ask why that is?

Ahh, you're religious. I'm sorry, but then this discussion ends here. I have never gotten anything good out of a discussion with a strongly religious person. Just because I'm radically opposed to being so conservative.

I'm not sure about the logic of 'a baby would be better off not being born than being born to a teen'. I agree with the foetus being part of the woman and not an independant entity until it's birth though. The argument that a foetus could become a little baby so stopping its growth is murdering a baby could also be used to argue against any kind of contraception. All human sperm and eggs have the potential to become humans, so not having sex many times every day is also in a sense a 'murder of babies'.
