1) What do you wish you knew more about?

The universe. I'd like to know whats out there and the potentials.

2) What are some small things that make your day better?

Getting to work and finding out most of the annoyances are gone for the day. Finally piecing together a bit of programming that I'd been working on. The very seldom happenstance of getting recognition for my work. Those things will set me a whistlin'.

3)What’s the last adventure you went on?

Some months back, I ventured out to one of the biggest disc golf tournaments in the mid-west not knowing what was in store. The first time I had left my comfortable little bubble here and gone that far down south, or anywhere in a long time. My expectations were greatly surpassed.

4)How different was your life one year ago?

Relatively different. I was a bloated, beer drinking slug with a short future. Now i'm just a slug and my future has been extended a little.

5)Who inspires you to be better?

Anyone with a kind, compassionate outlook on life.

6)What gets you going in the morning?

Bills.

glad to hear you sorted stuff out Plank.

whenever i hear stuff like that i think of my grand father. went from seemingly ok health to dying from heart failure in the span of just a couple days back a few years ago.i can’t remember a single time throughout my childhood that i saw him without a beer in his hand. didn’t seem like that much of a big deal until i saw what it did to him.

SmokeAndMirrors 03-24-2018 08:47 AM

1) What do you wish you knew more about?

Fabrication and engineering, linguistics, history, theology, philosophy, neuroscience, physics, electricity, computers, music, literature, animals, and psychology. I'm kind of a nerd. Some of that I know some of, but not more than an intermediate amount, some of it I know little to nothing at all about.

2) What are some small things that make your day better?

Waking up on time and having coffee in the morning.

3)What’s the last adventure you went on?

Moved 6 hours from previous location and went wandering around town on foot a bit to get a feel of where I was in the city. Then, the following year I just moved back here.

4)How different was your life one year ago?

I am a whole year less innocent to my previously preconceived thoughts. Oh well. At least I learned from it, that's sort of the point.

5)Who inspires you to be better?

Al Cisneros. Just, everything about the way that he even talks about music is ****ing beautiful.

6)What gets you going in the morning?

Alarm, coffee, weed (if I have any), breakfast, incense, and music.

Cuthbert 03-24-2018 08:48 AM

Well done Plank.

How long you been off the booze now then? Are you totally sober or just cutting down?

Trollheart 03-24-2018 10:43 AM

I think, given how (let's be honest) inane we expected his first ever six-pack questions to be, Mindfulness has done really well here, and should be applauded.

Chiomara 03-24-2018 11:54 AM

1) What do you wish you knew more about?

Why my parents are the way they are, various unsolved disappearances, traditional/ancient methods of perfume making, beekeeping, falconry, sewing, (I have no excuse for not having learned to sew by now) anything and everything having to do with ancient Mesopotamia, Afro-Caribbean religions (as it's more difficult to find information about oral-based traditions past a certain point), various cooking methods of yore, gardening, Jupiter's moons, every currently active (but still relatively unknown) cult in the US, dermatology/rare skin conditions (it's endlessly fascinating to me)

2) What are some small things that make your day better?

Rainstorms, finding an obscure old beautifully illustrated children's book at a thrift store, befriending a new dog

3)What’s the last adventure you went on?

I can't think of anything. (And I always groan on the inside whenever people call any marginally whimsical activity an ~adventure, so.) I suppose walking to the store at night is always an adventure since I could be murdered at any moment.

4)How different was your life one year ago?

Well, my brother was alive, and I was taking care of him a lot. And I was living in Texas. That's basically the only difference.

5)Who inspires you to be better?

People like this.

6)What gets you going in the morning?

Self-loathing which I somehow manage to turn into motivation (but only barely)

6 weeks tomorrow, totally sober. A much needed change after decades of abuse that I had just gotten used to, much like Qwerty's Grandfather. I'm not saying I'll never touch another drop, I'm just taking it as I go. The adjustment is still a little strange and my mind is still a little foggy, but I'm liking where I'm at right now and looking forward to whats ahead.

6 weeks? That's good work. I genuinely hope you find the best way forward.

Fair play, it is difficult. 6 weeks is a big achievement.

I prefer being sober but I have to be honest I do miss beer occasionally.

Damn right: we don't want to hear about how your promising career was cut short because you died of liver failure or whatever! The world needs to hear your music. THEN you can die of liver failure or whatever! j/k of course. Well done, Plankton. Proud of ya. A great example for your kid too. WWWP 03-24-2018 03:13 PM

1) What do you wish you knew more about?

Most things. I'm currently doing a lot of research on both the solar and digestive systems because the kid I nanny is super into space and pooping.

2) What are some small things that make your day better?

Small acts of kindness, unexpected interactions with strangers. My bf and I also text each other every time we see a dog.

3)What’s the last adventure you went on?

We've been getting a lot of rain so I drove the kids all around the county searching for the best puddles to jump in.

4)How different was your life one year ago?

Last year at this time I was super depressed and stressed, always broke despite working two jobs and going to school full time. This year I'm successfully navigating being self employed, love the work I do and have loads of free time. I recently paid off a relatively small amount of debt that had been hanging over my head for years and now I'm looking into establishing a line of credit to work on getting my score up. Still depressed but taking better care of myself and generally just being better.

5)Who inspires you to be better?

I've stopped relying on others for motivation, it has to come from a place of independence and self reliance for me, but that said my friends and the people around me are all very inspiring, be it exo making **** happen for himself or my youngest sister being a total badass in terms of bringing positivity and unconditional kindness to everyone she meets.

6)What gets you going in the morning?

Oh man I am so good at staying in bed or on the couch for 18 hours a day and honestly every day is a struggle. But as I mentioned above I'm being a bit tougher on myself in favor of productivity over existential apathy.

That sounds so convenient, I don't even know why people have kids of their own.

Not having to do anything with kids sounds even more convenient.

Isbjørn 03-26-2018 03:40 AM

1) What do you wish you knew more about?

Macroeconomics.

2) What are some small things that make your day better?

Mississippi John Hurt always makes my day better.

3)What’s the last adventure you went on?

Good golly, I can't remember.

4)How different was your life one year ago?

I was more depressed, I didn't have my part-time job, and my hair was several inches shorter. Apart from that, not a lot has changed.

5)Who inspires you to be better?

My girlfriend, my older sister, and people all over the world struggling for freedom.

6)What gets you going in the morning?

Coffee. More coffee.

This is true. Have you ever read the instructions on a box of tablets or a bottle of medicine? Always says "Keep out of the reach and sight of children." Good advice, imo.

It's Saturday.

1. What is your favourite kind of pie?

2. Would you steal if you knew you could get away with it and if so what is the limit in terms of value?

3. What is the funniest thread on MB past or present?

4. Where do you stand on the death penalty? For/against?

5. Do you have any fetishes?

6.What do you think happens when we die?

Happy Easter guys.

Frownland 03-31-2018 08:41 AM

1. What is your favourite kind of pie?

Apple dutch. Not a huge fan to begin with though.

2. Would you steal if you knew you could get away with it and if so what is the limit in terms of value?

No limits on this bitch. I would steal a really nice house. Wait no, I'd steal the United States.

3. What is the funniest thread on MB past or present?

*gestures toward self*

The line in your sig is an all time fave too.

EDIT: oh, thread. Y'all crack me up with the anti-frown threads.

4. Where do you stand on the death penalty? For/against?

Against.

5. Do you have any fetishes?

I get a bonk on when I hear great music.

6.What do you think happens when we die?

My dog will try to wake me up and eventually eat me. Can't say for the rest of you.

Trollheart 03-31-2018 09:01 AM

1. What is your favourite kind of pie?
Apple
2. Would you steal if you knew you could get away with it and if so what is the limit in terms of value?
Probably yes, but I'd have a guilty feeling about it. I were brung up to be honest. In terms of value, hard to say really. I do wonder about Frown's eventual answer. I mean, the United States? Where you gonna stash it?
3. What is the funniest thread on MB past or present?
Any I didn't create
4. Where do you stand on the death penalty? For/against?
Right behind the lever...
5. Do you have any fetishes?
Yes
6.What do you think happens when we die?
We stop living.

And Happy Easter to you, too. Don't eat too many Easter eggs!

Cuthbert 03-31-2018 09:52 AM

1. What is your favourite kind of pie?

Mince pie with cream I think, as a sweet dessert type pie.

For savoury pies, I would have to say a balti pie.

2. Would you steal if you knew you could get away with it and if so what is the limit in terms of value?

Not for small amounts but if it's a life changing amount of money I think I would.

3. What is the funniest thread on MB past or present?

Chula's meat delivery thread
Trump thread vol. 2

4. Where do you stand on the death penalty? For/against?

I'm against it, I don't think it can be justified.

5. Do you have any fetishes?

Absolutely none whatsoever!

6.What do you think happens when we die?

It will be the same as before you were born. The process of being alive one minute and dead the next though, I'm not too sure. I think that there is probably some sort of chemical release in your brain as it shuts down that would feel like a dream. I don't think it's anything to fear.

Thanks mate you too <3

MicShazam 03-31-2018 11:12 AM

1. What is your favourite kind of pie?

This thing with onion and tuna or something like that. Haven't had it for years. It's something my mom used to make and it was awesome. I gotta ask her if she's still got the recipe.

2. Would you steal if you knew you could get away with it and if so what is the limit in terms of value?

No. In theory, I'd care less if it was from a huge company, but never steal and would never consider stealing from another individual. I'd have to be desperate to eat or something to break that principle.

3. What is the funniest thread on MB past or present?

I honestly find the communicate in GIFs thread very amusing. Although by it's nature, it's hard to know if everyone else is reading the same into the exchanges as I do. That's why it's so good.

4. Where do you stand on the death penalty? For/against?

Against, allthough not all arguments for are easy for me to refute. It's partially some kind of innate sense of what's just and what's not, I guess.

5. Do you have any fetishes?

Women in high heels usually make me turn my head. It's a totally Pavlovian thing. I can't help it.

6.What do you think happens when we die?

Nothing, essentially. Sometimes, it feels more comforting than scary. I'm not gonna know, so how can I suffer?

“I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it.”

― Mark Twain
