1. Are there any genres that you have tried to get into on various occasions, but just can't for whatever reason?

Tried stuff like Weather Report that gets labeled "jazz fusion", but found most of it either inaccessible or simply boring.

2. You decide to go see a live show, and you have the option of seeing one of two bands that are playing that night. The first is exceptionally skilled at playing their instruments, but have very little showmanship and style. The second group is not as skilled as the first, but is known for crazy and visually exciting performances. Which would you go see?

Easy. Band 2. If I want a note perfect performance I'm sure Band 1 will have a CD I can buy.

4. Do you have a favorite and least favorite music video?

I don't watch many music videos.

Good one: the Moody Blues - Your Wildest Dreams. Added a degree of interest to a very ordinary song.
Bad: Split Enz - I walk Away. Videos that literally interpret the lyrics just make me wince. "The sun always sets" and the video shows the sun going down. Spare me please.

Posting in musical threads! Mostly I ask a question or respond to someone else's post, and check back a day later and mine is still the last post.

Not really. I'm pretty open-minded and have found at least a few decent artists in every genre I've explored, mind you there's a ton of genres I haven't tried.

Definitely number two, a concert is all about the experience, not necessarily just the music.

I don't watch very many music videos, but I remember I used to be really into the video for Dani California and I'm not exactly sure why.

Bassline when pretty much everyone was listening to it. Couldn't get away from it. Anyway I tried but I hated it, Speed Garage and all of the genres in between.

there are so many variables for me with this questions....i do go see bands live because i want to experience the music in person and honestly care very little about the "show" itself.....i'd say 95% of the bands i have seen live simple perform with little to no "effects".....it also comes down to whether or not i've seen them before....

fuck it....i'll go with band 1....i'm there to experience the music live with like minded people....not simply for theatrics

Hard pick for me but I usually can't see anything at shows anyway so I guess band one. I like to feel impressed by skill rather than setting.
