That's cheap. I heard no apparent reason at alls were going for loss of hearing, and an erectile disfunction.

I used to get pissed off at Barnes and Noble when I worked there because people would throw snark at us about how they can get books cheaper on Amazon. It used to really piss me off.

This shop produces worse people. At least with B&N you're talking a few bucks difference in price. I just had a 30 year old man who pulled up in a nice BMW put three paperbacks on the counter that totaled $10. These are books that are still very popular today and B&N sells them for like $16.99 EACH.

Dude has the f*cking nerve to ask me if he can get them all for $5. I said no. I'd like to stay in business and this c*nt goes "Well if you can't work with your customers, you're not going to be in business very long."

Nah dude, more like if raging chodes like you keep trying to f*ck over used bookstores, I won't be in business very long. Go f*ck yourself. I told him I'm already selling them dirt cheap so there's no reason they should be any cheaper and the guy told me he can find them at garage sales for 25 cents. I almost jumped the f*cking counter.

Ugghhhh. At least with big box stores I can see a small sliver of a point about price matching but holy sh*t some people that walk into this shop piss me right the f*ck off.

There's a used book store near me that sells books for half off and I get the feeling it's probably a month away from closing down at any point so selling what there would be $25.50 for $10 is insane and I would worship your shop forever assuming you had a nerdy sci fi/fantasy section. Some people just do not respect books.

Sometimes there's no reasoning with that self-righteous part of your brain that demands to be heard. I had a profanity laden tirade against a co-worker I've hated for two years while discussing our issues with the boss a few days ago and I'm pretty sure I came off as by far the more irrational but **** it I didn't care I just wasn't going to let the bull**** go unaddressed and I still don't regret it. The outraged reaction of my co-worker as she said "I'm not cussing at you-" and I cut her off to say "I don't care" still pleases me to no end and no amount of common sense can shake it.

Goddamn son that was well said.

I’ve been dreaming about going camping this winter since summer. I’ve found that anything less than 3 nights alone out there just doesn’t recharge me. And camping alone is so exhausting I need a week off to do that at the minimum. A couple days to prepare. The trip. And then the emotional transfer back to sub-mediocrity. They’re not going to give me the time off so I sort of want to get fired. Like I absolutely need to go ****ing camping.

I don't know what to tell you, man. You need the time off or you wouldn't feel that you needed it so much, but if the bosses won't hear you then... I guess maybe just take your boss into the office and just have an emotional but respectful moment where you tell them that "Look, I need this time off. I'm ****ing not kinda good right now and if I don't get the time off I won't be good for work. After this I'll be good but I need this." I mean if you can communicate your need to be off for that amount of time in a way that makes it clear that it's a mental state thing and not just you trying to flake on a week of work then maybe they'll get jolted out of indifferent boss mode and do you a solid. Unless your boss is a sociopath then they probably do actually care somewhat about you as a person simply because people tend to care more than they think they do.

I mean I'm sure I looked at least somewhat like a crazy person when talking to my boss about my co-worker I can't stand but when I told him I can't stand working with her and would very much like to get put on a different shift even though I've been on this shift for three years he listened. I know he's probably giving me the side eye right now but I've been heard and listened to.

They don’t listen to employ concerns. They don’t give a **** about my mental health or physical health. Employees collapse and have breakdowns on the regular. During an extremely long and merciless shift with no let up for hours a line cook balled up on the floor and broke down in tears. No one asked what was wrong. He was just fired. Not one person since I started gave a notice and then quit two weeks later. About ten kitchen workers have come and gone in what six months, one overdose, a few arrests, a few fired, a few no call no shows. All they give a **** about is getting through the day. Every second from the moment they (we) open it’s full force pandemonium. The bosses avoid hearing your concerns like it’ll give them AIDS.

To them it’s exactly the same thing. Same with ****ed up backs, the flu, whatever...

It’s one card. I need this time off and I’m willing to lose my job over it. You’re either worth to them or not. That’s it. Lots of employees give 100% compliance but sooner or later it’s only a very job scared soul who doesn’t finally snap.

I know you think I’m prone to hyperbole but it is like that. And compared to teaching it’s a breeze.
