Know how many folks get military service as an option when facing prison? A lot. I've met plenty of them. There may be a few patriotic kids left in the world, but the majority of folks that end up in the military are doing it for selfish reasons whether they realize it or not. It just so happens that it's a symbiotic relationship with national security. On the inside, it's just a corporation and everyone is looking to get paid.
I actually felt the most unpatriotic while serving. While walking around in uniform, you can't help but be stopped by someone graciously thanking you, buying you drinks, upgrading you to first class, etc...but I never felt truly deserving of it. Like you say it was a selfish decision with a bit of patriotism joining, then once I was in for a bit, I lost all patriotism and looked at the military in a completely negative way. At least the Navy/Air Force/Coast Guard. I don't know why, but I find it much more patriotic being an idiot and running over an IED.

In one of my sociology courses there's this kid who always raises his hand to participate in our daily class discussions on readings, but almost every time he starts rambling off topic and not really forming much of a thought that relates to what we are talking about. He's got this really think lisp and says "like" a ridiculous amount. He wastes so much of our time just talking before thinking.

Oh you must have a new husband that doesn't know how to act. You should put him on pussy parole and he will come correct right away. He needs to learn the ways of being married and keeping you happy. He's a hard lesson he'll have to learn on his own.

-I also get really annoyed in classes when people around me talk or are loud. These frat bros sit behind me in English Literature and everyday they laugh and talk so damn loud and you can tell everyone gets kinda annoyed but the professor is real laid back and usually just looks back at them but never says anything. I just dont like rude people in class, like everyone zipping up their bookbag 5 minutes before class ends. Just wait til the class is over, the professor has to yell over everyone rustling around.

-Ok, this type of person I really get annoyed with. At the gym, there is a track. On this track, there are 3 lanes. They are labelled like 20 times as "walk," "jog," and "run." So... WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU WALKING IN THE RUNNING LANE. It's not a very big track so it's crowded enough sometimes without having to dodge and weave people in the outside running lane taking their good old time. It's like riding a bicycle in the passing lane on the highway. Just holds everyone up and clogs up the track and always pisess me off.
Oh man I've experienced all three of those and they make me mad. The one about the track though....I don't mind that one too much. I just keep running and then step around then and then go back. No big deal there.

Yeah while I was in the Navy it's funny how many sailors treat the military like it's a prison sentence. You count down how long until you get out and people are all like NEVER AGAIN VOLUNTEER YOURSELF. I always came across some **** the navy type graffiti different places. When people would stop me and thank me I loved that ego boost. I'm like **** yeah I'm in the military protecting your rights and all that good ****. Bow down and lick my mother fucking feet.

There's someone like that at my school. I've had two classes with her, and she is unbearable. The teacher went through his "first day of class" speech, and told us about 5 times that the tests would be multiple choice, because it makes things easier. When he FINALLY moved on from tests to talking about ways of contacts, the girl raises her hand for like 10 minutes while the teacher is trying to finish his sentences. He finally stops what he's saying and calls on her and she asks what form the tests will be in. She asks if it will be in essay form.

My entire day has been going over lines and working on my dialect.

I'm convinced that I'm never going to learn this damn Texas dialect. I've spent more time listening to people from Texas talk on constant loop and watching movies set in the state than I have listening to music lately.

I'm about to just swallow my pride and call up one of my old acting coaches who does dialect coaching as well. It's just frustrating that I can't do this dialect because I've never had a problem with character voices / accents / dialects before. Seems I've found my Achilles Heel.

But Goddamn, this is frustrating.

You should probably call the coach. I'm sure it's hard to swallow your pride, but you also wouldn't want to waste time, you know? [=
