Agreed. Of course guns are so desired by some people, who can't otherwise get them, that a black market exists with them being legal. Outright removal probably would be worse and possibly much worse. As with most things in life the answer exists somewhere in the middle. Somewhere between the most liberal gun laws imaginable and an outright ban on all guns. Our work is cut out for us.

You make a good point, Unfan. I was thinking that if gun production was restricted to government owned buildings. But then again, in that movie In The Line Of Fire, John Malkovich makes a deadly pistol out of wood, so I guess peope would figure out ways to make their own guns.

As for the need to carry guns, I still don't understand it. And also, I've never had someone try to sneak up on me with a chainsaw, and I've never looked around and noticed anyone chasing someone with a chainsaw. Just observing, I don't think we're really at that level of depravity, guys.

Zip guns can be made out of ordinary household products. It isn't even really that hard to make one.

unfortunately for the bulk of the population living outside of urban areas who would use guns for hunting or protecting their crops / livestock from natural predators (coyotes / wolves / bears); they're the ones getting shafted with excessive registration fees for the valid and legitimate use of firearms. all so a bunch of bleeding hearts in the big cities can think they've taken a bite out of gun crime.... handguns (for strictly personal use) have NEVER been legal in canada, but i can only recall one incident in the last few years where a rifle was used over a pistol in a gun crime. it's not to say individual's can't have pistols but they need 2 licenses and need to be registered with an approved government organization or gun club.

Ok, i live in toronto and i believe it is the 4 largest city in north america, we have about 5 million people in what we call the GTA. Last year this city of 5million had 80 murders, 44 of those were way of the gun, and this was seen by our media as an awful year(the worst on history i think), they proclaimed it the summer of the gun. Even though i personally live in one of the safest areas of toronto, i have no problem at all walking through what ever neighborhood, in toronto. For example last weekend our public transit system went down due to strike, me and my friends were downtown, so we decided to walk home which is about 8 or 9 miles roughly, and on our trip we walked through what is called the ghetto of toronto, at 2 in the morning, and it was nothing, we never thought twice about it, and me and my friend, 4 guys from the beaches, we did not fit in there but it was nothing. I also have personally never seen a gun i my life ( other than on a cops belt). I cant say it is not a problem here but come on. Also a simple indicator of how crime is in your area is your evening news, last time i was in the states, it was murder, then arson , then something else. We have exposes of gardening, and other stuff to fill time like this.
