They're probably horrible compared to real meat, but they're (usually) good sources of protein and healthier than the real thing. I intend to get rid of them when I leave home and eat more beans and pulses for protein, but right now they're the only food of that kind my sisters will eat, so I have to put up with them. Not saying they're not nice or anything, I'm just not a big fan of substitutes.

idk about that brand but my aunt loves Morningstar products and she usually snatches up their burgers when they are on sale.

Virgin, I can understand that you have beliefs about meat, and that's good for you, believe what you want to. But I'll spell this out for you:

There is absolutely nothing you can do to make me eat meat. I seriously doubt there is anything you can do to make other vegetarians here eat meat. Using religion won't work on me, because I don't believe in Jesus. Using pictures of meat on me won't work, because I don't eat meat and don't find anything appealing about it. So for your own sake more than anyone elses, don't waste your time.

it's ok. i'm not particularly interested in you changing from being a vegetarian to a meat eater.
it's more of like giving you guys an option and the oppurtunity you're missing being a vegetarian. just saying.

Probably Grillers, they're the most popular brand. If anyone is in SO-CAL this is one of the better stores related to vegan/vegetarian diets.

I've had bocca burgers before and they were pretty good, but I was thinking next time I go to the grocery I'm going to experiment with a few substitutes and possibly some vegetarian recipes.

I'm ashamed to say it, but I feel the same way. :(

Quorn is definitely the best for chicken patties, I hate Morningstar though
Quorn also has really good soy turkey.

also these are my faves for veggie foods:

vegetarians won't think they are missing anything. if they think that, they wouldn't be vegetarians.

maybe it would be better if you can share some Filipino dish on this thread. maybe the others would find that helpful and at the same time, would help others here appreciate that part of our culture. I would love to share but i don't know much about it. my mother is only half Filipino so there is the other 3/4 in me.

she does cook a lot of Filipino food though and most of it are vegetarian-friendly. like shrimp/fish with tamarind soup. i can't remember what it is called in filipino.

there is also the filipino version of spring roll

there is another one... my mom said in the philippines, they put beef in it but she replaces it with vegetables... you put some salted shrimp fry in it... the soup is kind of orange... it's called something like "Carie"... something like that

Paloma, have you tried Amy's vegan Teriyaki wraps? Amys Kitchen : Natural and Organic Foods

The teriyaki wraps are sooooooo delicious! Our local HyVee just started carrying them a couple months ago. They are expensive, unfortunately, but...mmmmmmm! I'll fork out good money to have the chance to get my fork into these wraps! :) :)

I agree that most vegetarians probably don't feel they are missing anything important by not eating animals, since what vegetarians gain by being vegetarian is so much greater than what they give up.

In my opinion most vegetarians would not consider meals made with fish and shrimp, who are animals, to be vegetarian foods or vegetarian-friendly. I wouldn't.
