I just read that sometimes they open registrations for one or two days on the first of the month.

Hm, yeah I remember hearing that but I don't know weather or not it's true. Demoid.com is closed because Quality > Quantity. Everyone on that site seeds the full torrent, which makes it download faster, and torrent quality in general is much better. Also, they apparently mostly do discographies and obscure albums/artists which is awesome. If they let just anyone on there it wouldn't be as dedicated.

Also, don't go on YouTube or anything that takes up bandwidth while downloading.

But how come Demonoid is private? Like, wouldn't it help if there were more people instead of less?

No. The idea is that the people who are on Demonoid will be people who actually seed out their files. Leaching isn't prevalent like public torrents because it's regulated on Demonoid, therefore you get reliable seeds. It's more of a community than a hit-n-run web of takers.

Yeah, but seeding leads to getting caught doesn't it?

Um, no. Seeding makes it possible to download torrents.
Which, when you look at it, I guess you're right in a certain aspect.

thisWARisours 04-16-2009 05:47 PM

Yeah, I know that seeding is like the foundation of torrents, but spending the least amount of time in a torrent program is probably the safest.

It's not like the RIAA is going to individually track down your IP.
Also, your top speed was 165? You probably aren't getting the right torrents. Always aim for the ones with the most seeds.
My highest speed was 1200kb/s iirc.

thisWARisours 04-16-2009 06:52 PM

Then how do people get caught?

And when I downloaded something with like 12000 seeds and like 500 leechers, it was still only 165.

I have DSL?

You think people get caught because you believe it happens all the time. You know how many people pirate music and software every day and never get caught? It's astronomical.

I do know how many people get caught...it's like 1 to 600 billion or whatever. But what if it just happens to be you lol.
