It's absolutely shocking to hear about. It was on a BBC documentary not long ago. It was a Stacey Dooley Investigates documentary if you feel like watching it. |

I say things like this, yet I KNOW I'm never gonna stop obsessing over my slightly asymmetrical eyes) Which is why I'm especially annoyed when I come across artists or photographers who exclusively paint/photograph skinny blonde women (lying in a pond or in a forest or whatever or some other typical setting--you know, the bland sort of unimaginative sanitized fairytale-themed stuff that always gets reposted endlessly on Pinterest or wherever) with conventionally pretty and ultimately forgettable doll faces. |

And I rather liked this bit from an article I ready recently: "...Oh, but ugliness—ugliness is always yours. Almost everyone has some innate kernel of grotesquerie; even fashion models (I’ve heard) tend to look a bit strange and froggish in person, having been gifted with naturally level faces that pool light luminously instead of breaking it into shards. And everyone has the ability to mine their ugliness, to emphasize and magnify it, to distort even those parts of themselves that fall within acceptable bounds. Where beauty is narrow and constrained, ugliness is an entire galaxy, a myriad of sparkling paths that lurch crazily away from the ideal. There are so few ways to look perfect, but there are thousands of ways to look monstrous, surprising, upsetting, outlandish, or odd." |

I bought an unfortunate looking dog cake from the Albertsons clearance rack at 10 pm last night (I hate grocery store cakes, but I just kind of looked at it and thought "a dog! A dog cake! I can't not get it")
https://s18.postimg.org/rxidgwqmx/IM...212_220634.jpg Pretty sure this is listed as a symptom of depression in the DSM-V somewhere. |

That is not a dog. That is a ****ing bear.

OK, yes, maybe it does look more much more like a bear, but I'm gonna keep pretending it's a dog. I've seen so many terrible Albertsons animal-shaped cakes that it can be difficult to tell sometimes. Once I even asked the baker if a misshapen cupcake (with eyes and a tail) was a dog or a cat and they just shrugged and said "I wish I knew." (It actually isn't that bad for a clearance Albertsons cake, though, aside from the cake part being overly sweet. All I want at the moment is a basic old-fashioned yellow layer cake with chocolate frosting)
