Well RYM is a way of cataloguing albums etc, so if every album uploaded is listed there then it's easy to browse by artist, album, genre, year etc etc. Just a thought.

I like and use RYM myself, but it seems like it would be a pain in the ass to have a MBMF profile that needs to be updated every time an album is uploaded to MF. Would one person update it? That seems like a PITA because everyone would have to PM their uploads to that one person, who would have to add it to the RYM profile, etc. Not to mention, RYM logs you out every time you access your profile from another computer. What does that mean? That means if everyone that has MBMF access had access to the RYM profile, people would be unknowingly kicking others out whenever they log in.

That said, I've never used a MF account so I don't know how searchable it is or anything. Also one big question...is there any way to know the bitrate of files uploaded by others? I know they could put it in the rar file name, but let's face it, most don't care and won't bother stating it. If there is, I'd be interested in participating. If there's no way to tell, just like with most blog downloads, then I'll pass.

How would it work in relation to mediafire?

Well obviously, any album uploaded to MF would have to be listed to RYM. Either a few people could do this to help out, or have the RYM account have the same password and then whoever uploads an album also adds to the list....or something like that.

Yeah... it could work. If you guys want to do it then I say go for it - but as of right now I was just going to try to keep the least amount of work involved so we could get enough participants to really make this thing slammin.

EDIT: Uploading my music now... you guys are in luck if you like John Zorn.

Not to bash the idea, but is it "legal enough" to do without putting the site in jeopardy?

Craigslist didn't get shut down for advertising hookers. It's because Craigslist didn't advertise hookers, it's members did.

Besides I doubt the members of this site could keep their wallets from starving if they purchased all the music they listen to.
