When grammar and spelling *are* applied, they certainly help posts appear eloquent, but I feel that content and intent are more important, especially when posts are intended to be funny. I feel grammar errors are cute.

Actually, if you're going to be anal about it, both 'are' and 'is' can be applied equally in that sentence.

Now, back to writing generic hippy songs.

"Are" is indeed more correct, well, if you're going to be anal about that is.

Try Word instead, it's more accurate.
