Concerning whistling after girls ..

I have a friend who's a carpenter and he and his fellow workers seem to think of it as a sort of public service

From his stories, some girls definetly seem to appreciate it and may show appreciation for example by blowing a kiss. My own girlfriend doesn't mind .. she got whistled at by a mailman some days ago and seemed quite satisfied about it when she told me on the phone.

A lot of people are offended. If girls whistled at me, I don't think I would be. The carpenters I hear about don't sound like dangerous people and they seem to do it because it's sort of a traditional joke which they think is funny. Unless they say or do anything which can only be interpreted as rude, you basically have the choice to be offended or appreciate the compliment and laugh at/with them. It's the pretty girls they whistle to after all.

If it's not very crude and f.ex just a harmless whistle, I think one should realize it's a joke and a compliment and not take life so seriously. In the end, you can't control their actions, only your response.

Shucks I don't even know how to whistle.

But if I was a broad I would be flattered that other people found me attractive, that's just me.

Just as long as whistling is ALL they're doing. I don't find that mere act to be sexist at all it's just saying "hey you're hot" and that's just a compliment but if you're humping the air and making lewd comments then that's another story entirely.

Well guys always say that they don't get what's so harmful about it all, until a heterosexual guy gets hit on by a homosexual dude. And they get all freaky and paranoid.

If it's one person, it's a compliment. If it's any pervert on the street just honking at any girl on the street, not compliment.

but like every man you see can be eye-balling you and what not. That's just annoying, and no it's not some kind of favour! I just want to be invisible and get through with my life damn it.

I wouldn't mind at all if everyone wanted to f*ck me. Things would only get complicated if they all TRIED to, at the same time.

Is this an issue with you? I wouldn't doubt it.

If you feel you're being eyeballed by every guy out there, then there are some possible explanations. Either guys just really tend to eyeball where you are from or you are utterly stunning so that men can't help but look. OR - the eyeballing is not really that exaggerated and not that much of a problem, but you respond to it as if it is.

So which one is it?

it's because it objectifies the individual and sends a very clear message that judgement was recently passed on them based on absolutely nothing besides visual prejudice.

the only time a guy thinks it's cool is when they've never actually had a car load of less than appealing women drive loops while hooting and hollering at him as he tries to keep walking to wherever he's going to.
