Dude, it's an apartment complex. I rent. They own this thing.
Yea, I thought the same thing when I first read their policy, which prompted me to do research. I'm fairly sure I won't be avoiding it by moving to another complex. I guess it's based more on the management and type of place though. I had a duplex in Florida in '02 and my landlord never came in unexpectedly. But then again, he just owned a couple duplexes. Where I live now, it's a large complex with multiple locations. The policies are just different.

I guess. It's just awful that people you know come to your house at a time you can't pick and have the freedom to go through your stuff whenever they want to.

It still looks like old crap though
Didn't really need to explain the fact that there's a difference between the brands/types of gear, and what your average gear-ignorant viewer is going to care about... but I see what you did there, and I can only hope it makes the difference you hoped for.

My representation of the demographic I commented about does not.
So thanks for adding the info.
But I don't think they care.

The monthly inspections seem to be fairly standard where I live, actually. At least three of my friends currently live in apartments which have inspections, and only one of them receives the common courtesy of a knock on the door before the inspection is conducted.

They got my friend on a random inspection a week or so ago (the second in that month) and she had a half-empty liquor bottle and someone who didn't live there asleep on her couch. She didn't get in trouble for it, though. So I have no idea how bad someone would have to be to fail an inspection.

I'm pretty sure I have indeed completely missed the point.

I don't personally think your entire collection consists of reel-to-reels...
I never thought you thought that. So now I am sure I missed the point.

Of course, maybe I'm missing something you're trying to say as well. I'm not immune to the sarcasm-dampening effects of intent represented by text any more than the next guy.
Nah, I've discovered it's pretty hard to recognize or use both sarcasm and humor in text when you don't read and write in your own language.
I miss quite a lot of what's said on this forum. But most of the time I'm not part of the discussion. This time I am. And I ****ed up.

So... Do you think it's neccesary that you explain to me what you meant? .

Actually I just misunderstood what you meant by your previous comment. Which is why I deleted my response to it.
Either way, at a certain point, all we're left with is an assumption of intention. I do my best, but my best is nowhere near perfection.
