Shit, I do it just to save on electricity.

s_k 01-29-2011 06:52 PM

I'd go mad. Can't stand walking into a dark room.
Ah, there's another one :D.

When I enter a vehicle, I am compelled to shut the doors with my feet rather than my hands.

Hand sanitizer: if it's there, I will use it for no reason.

Yup me too.

I just remembered that I make ABSOLUTELY sure that I have my keys in my hand before I close the door. I have to look right at them in my hand before I'm ready to lock it.

Me too! Even if I've just washed my hands ten minutes before, I will.

Something that I guess is a sort of weird quirk is one of my theatre superstitions: I will NOT audition for a play unless I have a picture of Bette Davis in my pocket or shoe. I forgot one time, and it was the one time I didn't get cast. I'm dead serious about that one. I actually forgot it for the last show I auditioned for, left, printed out a picture, and went back.

Did you get the part?

ThePhanastasio 01-30-2011 10:50 PM

Yeah, I got the part - but the show got cancelled a week or so ago because snow made rehearsing impossible.

I'll check the contents of a shopping bag about 20 times after I've bought something.

haha sounds like you get shoppers guilt so that's why you keep checking what's in the bag.

it's something between the cashier exchanging it for an inferior product after I've paid for it and whether I've dropped it

djchameleon 01-31-2011 06:38 AM

ahh okay. that's understandable but it's not something I do.

I usually get shopper's guilt after I spent a certain amount of money in one day.

FETCHER. 01-31-2011 09:02 AM

Every once in a while I get the ridiculous urge to do something, that most people dont. Blue hair, 9 ear piercings etc, etc.

I fold my wage slips in a certain way and if I'm looking through them and notice one has been done oppositely then I'll fix it immediately.

I keep everything and think of ludicrous reason to keep stuff, I still have all my HTID cds haha.

Everytime I go shopping for heels I buy black ones, so far I have 14pairs of black high heels. not to say I dont have other colours...

When I'm in work I generally walk around whistling the kill bill tune, dunno why, always comes to me.

I feel naked without my phone and ipod. Which is normal about here. So not really a quirk.

I think I have partial insomnia.

Thom Yorke 01-31-2011 09:45 AM

I used to be absolutely paranoid about sleep. I'd constantly be checking the clock to reassure myself. "Oh, I'm still getting 6 hours if I fall asleep right now so it's ok. Now 5 hours, not bad. 4 hours... ****."

Now I just don't care and have the weirdest and most unhealthy sleeping habits. I'll usually go to bed no earlier (or later if you want to put it that way) than 5 am, and average about 4 hours a night, although some days I'll sleep 2 hours (like last night) and sometimes over 10. I do fall asleep in about 80% of my classes though, so maybe I can't pull it off as well as I think I can.

I do this. ALL THE TIME.

the kill bill thing is pretty cool. Oh and that shopping thing, I'm the same way but instead of heels, it's shades. If I go to a mall and I see a shades kiosk, I get the sudden urge to stop and get another pair.

am I the only one that digs out the last of the deodorant before chucking it?

I'm pretty much the same. I'll slowly start falling asleep later and later until I'm staying up till the sun comes up and then passing out from sheer exhaustion. Then one day I'll just start going to bed at like eight or nine and after a few months it'll start again.

I'm terrified of heights. I know this is not uncommon, but I don't even like to go on ladders. I have never in my life stepped on the last step of a ladder and I probably never will, and only a very few times have I been on the second to last, and it was always an event. Like "Oh ****, I'm ****ing badass. I'm on the second to last step, mother****er!"

I do that almost every night. It's such a bad habit!!

s_k 01-31-2011 12:37 PM

I force myself not to.
Everything below 6 hours is really bad by the way :D
(for me, at least)

It's bad for everyone - 6+ hours is the amount of sleep people need to be getting. Doesn't always happen though, obviously!

CanwllCorfe 01-31-2011 02:32 PM

I actually read a huge study that was done (1,000,000 people), which ended up with the results saying that the optimal amount is between 6 and 7 hours. The people who slept more than 8 hours, or less than 4, had the highest mortality rate.

That's interesting. I should really try and regulate my sleep schedule

I know I need to :( "Oh tonight I'll get to sleep by 11:30." Never happens.

Thom Yorke 01-31-2011 04:08 PM

From my understanding it's all about getting into a good rhythm. If you sleep for 5 hours or whatever every single night it's fine, but if you're all over the place it's terrible for you, even if you're getting over 5 hours every night. Something about timing the biorhythms or something... Anyways I'll stop there as I don't want to sound like an idiot.

And of course alot depends on the person as well. I took PSYC back in first year and we learned about this one woman who slept something crazy like a couple hours a week or something, yet was perfectly healthy. Can't remember the name of the disorder. Obviously very rare though.

emostreetguitar562268 01-31-2011 08:06 PM

I have an OCD to hug people. If i dont get 15 hugs within the course of the day i usually end up waking up around midnight (if im not already up) and start screaming randomly...

s_k 01-31-2011 08:10 PM

Wait, you're a girl right?
And you have two girls french kissing as an avatar?
Yeah, you're good. You can get hugs anytime :D.

She's also like... thirteen.

not sure, glad you do though :).
I'm really huggish too. Not as much as you seem to be, but whenever I get the chance...
Anyway, I'm in bed now (typing this on my phone). Sleep tight Olive!

well I didn't know that. But still... Apparently there's something very wrong with your definition of hugging :D.
And hey, check the dream topic. She's the one telling me to dream about lesbians.
These thirteen year olds get smarter by the day, don't you think?

someonecompletelyrandom 01-31-2011 09:51 PM

Hugging is the closest thing to sex I've ever had, so maybe my perspective is a bit warped.

You're a cool guy. You play music. It's time to get your game on.

someonecompletelyrandom 01-31-2011 10:35 PM

Tbh, I'm far to infatuated with a particular person to really think about that. Maybe that's a quirk.

So are you just going to hug this person or what?

someonecompletelyrandom 01-31-2011 11:05 PM

I have no romantic involvement with them. Theyre a good friend and I'd hate to ruin that by making things weird.

This kind of stuff just stresses me too much to worry about. If I never have a stable romantic relationship again then that's the way it goes I guess.
