I also remember Snowflakes are Dancing and the W.Carlos albums; a friend of mine loved all that stuff. He also had:-

synth but not classical: Tonto's Expanding Head Band
classical but not synth: Jaques Loussier Trio

The albums I bought myself were:-

classical with some synth: The Velvet Gentleman
synth with some classical: W.Carlos' Clockwork Orange

Of all those, I think today my preference is probably for the JLT's jazzed up Bach material. Here's a little taster for anyone who wants it:-

Oh. Damn. I've heard his name thrown around a lot. Didn't know much about him but a shame nonetheless.

I just heard about this today. My brother turned me on to Tomita back when we were in HS. He's done some outstanding work, and pushed more boundaries in music than most artists. For me, this is the most notable example:

Quote:

Tomita has performed a number of outdoor "Sound Cloud" concerts, with speakers surrounding the audience in a "cloud of sound". He gave a big concert in 1984 at the annual contemporary music Ars Electronica festival in Linz, Austria called "Mind of the Universe", mixing tracks live in a glass pyramid suspended over an audience of 80,000 people.
