Still on that vapor tip, so I guess I'm still addicted to the habit, but at least it isn't killing me.
Good for you Freebase. I wish I had the will power to just quit smoking cigarettes cold turkey.

I have come to realize myself, just like with most all addictions. Even if I beat the habit on my own, I might still crave the desire from time to time, or even maybe for the rest of my life. Cigarettes are such a nasty habit!

As for alcohol, my dad was an alcoholic, and in a way I have him to thank for the fact that I'll never abuse the stuff. It can have absolutely atrocious consequences for not only the user, but those around them too.

I've dabbled with various other drugs, but never developed an attachment to them.
Honestly, it's eerie how much similarity I can see here.

I was in the same boat a few months ago, I abruptly stopped smoking weed and couldn't sleep at all for about a month. Later ended up having a few severe panic attacks that landed me in the hospital & got hooked on Ativan in the process. Shit was so bad I had to withdraw for a semester and get my act together. I spent more time than I'm willing to divulge talking to mental health professionals about problems that didn't exist (apart from substance abuse issues).

Needless to say, it was a part of my life that I'm very much eager to not re-live. I still drink and smoke weed infrequently, but I'm never going to allow recreational pursuits govern my mental health again.

I'd say that I had a mild mental addiction to Marijuana for a while... but nothing particularly serious.

I've never been addicted to a substance, but right now I'm getting kind of addicted to looking for good guitar deals on eBay.

I've got a Watch list of around 15 guitars, including ones I like but not enough to buy. The positive in all this is that I research the different guitars and learn about their pickups, wiring, and tone, but I'm letting eBay interfere with my sleep! I'm letting the search for "perfect" things become more important than doing things (like practice my current guitars).

Help me, someone! I'm getting addicted to eBay!!!

(But don't help me until my current guitar Watch list auctions have all ended)

I'm addicted to weed, even though they say you can't get addicted...maybe you can't get chemically reliant, but you can get addicted to anything. And I count on smoking it often so that's an addiction but I reckon I have it under control.

Addicted to tobacco but got it under control, probably addicted to coffee.

In general I've got an addictive personality so I get addicted to whatever I'm interested in, and then keep doing it until I get bored...

Dude I used to be the same. Try this - Don't sleep for 24 hours. You'll be so shattered that you can set yourself an earlier time to sleep and establish a more normal sleeping pattern. Then roll zoot during the day it's a reason to get up man

I used to be addicted to opiates, and it was a hell of a ride. I only shot up twice, and a week after the second time when I was about to go even more downhill and shoot up regularly, I overdosed on a prescription cocktail filled with everything that I could get my hands on, but mostly Xanax, Vicoden, and antidepressants. My friend was with me and we had to go to the hospital and we both had to be resuscitated multiple times. It's pretty shocking to know that you've breached the other side and returned to tell the tale, but I was legally intoxicated for weeks after the overdose. After those weeks came to a close and I was just debilitated, I had get clean.

I still do drugs, mostly psychadellics, marijuana, alcohol, and other things in stressed moderation--only indulging in a splurge as the blue moon rises. I believe that I've escaped my addictions as a whole, so long as I don't relapse. Haven't touched any opiates since, and I'm feeling pretty happy about that. I don't believe that I'm addicted to the drugs that I still do, it's just that I greatly enjoy them. I've gone for weeks without any of them and was fine, so I think that I'm in the clear from the prowess of addiction .

Only things I'm addicted to now are beer and snus.
Haven't smoked a cigarette since August 15th of 2011. Some would say the snus is cheating, but f*ck you. It can't be as horrid as cigarettes. I certainly smell a lot better, at least.

I think this cracked article has some really great insight on addiction.

5 Life Lessons You Only Learn Through Quitting Smoking | Cracked.com

I can really understand a lot of the habitual and self delusion aspects of this article despite not smoking.

EDIT*
Oh yeah and Im addicted to playing with my scalp. I do it whenever I get stressed. Its gotten better though I remember I used to like plucking out my hairs. Not sure what else. Maybe the computer sometimes but I can usually keep it in check when I need to or when im busy.
