I find I get quite noticeably cranky after about six waking hours with a cigarette. I had this ratified the other day when my girlfriend told me 'whenever you get all cranky, the first thing I do is get you a cigarette, workings 9 out of 10 times......... dearest'.

I was a bit taken aback, I had a smoke and was alright.

I can quit all the various drugs fairly easily, the problem is that i can't quit drugs completely.

As long as i have some chemical distraction i can get through the day, but get super anxious and frustrated if i don't have something, fortunately this is extremely rare.

I got over most addictions, but now I am drinking a lot. So I guess that's a new one.

It's like Anthony Bourdain says, you never truly get over an addiction, you just move onto the next one.

We need an Anthony Bourdain appreciation thread. That dude seems like a genuinely cool motherf*cker. He's just as happy dining at a 5-star restaurant in NYC as he is riding a mountain goat to Tibet to sip tea with a shaman.
