I think you should try it out then. But they can be quite expensive if you end up getting one that doesn't really work, or if you buy liquids that aren't to your liking.

Do some research and if you are mainly looking to replace the hit - as opposed to the general vibe of smoking - I suggest going for the strongest you can find.

I bought a Blu on New Year's Day that was supposed to be "full flavor tobacco" or some bs like that and it tasted like sh*tty watered-down coffee, something sickly sweet and the way cat vomit smells. Disgusting. I think a real, non-disposable e-cig might be better but I haven't liked them much in the past. It's smart of you to do some research. I didn't.

The patch and gum are expensive, and I've gone "cold turkey" only about 20 times now. It's sad. I wish I never started smoking, it's not worth it.

Depending on where you live you can actually get patches for free.

Do tell. I'm in California. In my area they keep the patches and gum and lozenges locked up behind the counter next to the damn cigarettes.

Get that book, seriously. Worth $10 surely.

Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking: Be a Happy Non-smoker for the Rest of Your Life: Amazon.co.uk: Allen Carr: Books

1,000 ratings, 5*? I'll be stunned if there is another item on Amazon as popular as that. I bet if you post on other forums, if you made a thread on this book there'd be people who can vouch for it.

He's been blackballed from the stop smoking industry though; who would rather give you something containing nicotine to keep you coming back.

I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to quit smoking - and to those who don't think they want to, too (I included myself in this group). Once one realises what is all about, quitting is easy. I kept telling myself that I would quit the moment a cigarette didn't feel nice with a cup of coffee, without realising that moment would never come.
I know enjoy my coffee a lot more, and I can actually feel the taste of it in its full splendour. Good luck to all of you who are trying to quit. Just remember there is never a right time to quit, so better do it now than later or never.

I only know in New York. Not sure about Cali but you can call up 311 the information hotline and they give patches but I don't know if it's just a trial thing or you can call like once a month and they will send more. Not sure how it works really because I don't smoke.

I got a Halo G6, a couple pre-filled cartomizers, some e-liquid and blank cartos. The TriBeCa is good about keeping me from reaching for the analogs.

I'm still skeptical of e-ciggs. I mean, they aren't regulated by the FDA. Sure, they are missing the more than 4000 chemicals that regular cigarettes have that are carcinogenic, but BOTH versions still contain nicotine which can still have nasty long-term effects. The e-ciggs also usually contain propylene glycol, which is questionable, and many other sketchy unregulated chemicals (since as mentioned earlier they aren't regulated by the FDA). Plus, you can never know how much of what is actually in there.

I'm not saying that they aren't an effective solution to stop smoking and improve your health, but I think the whole concept is kinda perverse, especially when you see non-smokers turning to them (such as kids and teens) and especially when most people think they are perfectly healthy for you and won't cause any long-lasting health problems.

It's frankly moronic, in my opinion, to use an e-cig if you don't smoke. In that case I'd be wary about what we don't know about them. For a smoker like myself though, I'd be very surprised if they aren't at least the much, much healthier option.

I heard some woman on the bus the other day talking to her friend.

"Are you still smoking?
I had two today.
Oh well whatever I do I wouldn't get one of those electronic cigarettes. They'll poison you! I'd rather smoke!"
