My last serious relationship ended on a very sour note. I dated a girl for just over a year, everything was going really well and it felt like we were totally in love with each other. The last couple of weeks we were together she was behaving very strangely and trying to avoid talking to me. As soon as she broke up with me she started going out with some other guy almost straight away. Turns out that they had been screwing each other for about a month or so and it made me sick to the teeth. Ever since then I've been put off relationships and felt no real urge to jump into one. That would probably change someday when the perfect girl walks into my life but for the time being I'm quite happy and having fun being single.

Oh yeah. I was a consummate cheater myself, because I had commitment issues and thought I'd never get caught. I finally wised up and realized that wasn't a good way to be. Got in a very serious relationship. Like, engaged to be married serious.

She cheated on me with her best male friend, and then told me at one point it was because she couldn't come out to her family. That hurt.

It hurt even more when she married the guy, and for a while, I tried bitterly to think that the joke was on him, but really...he got the girl. I got the moving back in with my family.

Something similar happened to me. There were plenty of red flags which I chose to ignore, like with you, she started to distance herself from me. Her parents split up and she then used that as a smokescreen to say she couldn't be in a relationship with anyone and ended it. I then found a load of messages on her Facebook to her ex, nothing outright sexual but it was very clear she wasn't over him and she'd been trying to get back with him for a while. Took me a long time to get over that, probably about 2 years which is a bit sad (was 21 at the time), she denied everything when I brought it up so I just completely cut her off and everyone we knew, didn't bother losing my temper tbh, after a few months she was bombarding me with texts, letters, emails, phone calls saying she was sorry and how I was actually perfect for her, I didn't reply and I've not spoken to her since, she still messages me now on occasions wanting to know how I am. It was my first serious girlfriend and it broke my heart to be honest. Glad it happened though and am over it now, wish her all the best (don't want to speak to her again though :p:).

I learned a lot from that and what I will and won't accept in a relationship, I reckon I would know straight away pretty much if any girl I was interested in would be the type to cheat. You can just tell.

I've never actually had a boyfriend or felt anything close to love. In a way I think I'm lucky but I sometimes think I'm missing out on alot. It's only really when I'm sad I want a boyfriend  if I could use someone for cuddles/spooning that'd be great thx. I'm also big spoon.
