Default Who exactly runs this place?

Is there a chief adminstrator anywhere? Who "founded" the site? I don't see any obvious ads and there's just a mysterious "Advameg, Inc" which, according to its website, is "a fast growing Illinois-based company. Our websites reach millions visitors per month." Hmm. Among their websites are "How products are made" (How Products Are Made), "Fly Fishing: The Lifetime Sport" (Fly Fishing: The Lifetime Sport), and "Religious Education Forum" (http://www.religiousforums.com/forum/); hey, maybe someone should have directed WendyCal to that one.

It's amazing how curious one can get when you have insomnia.

(But I really do want to know!)

It is just a front for shady record execs to observe musical tastes and habits.....

Advameg didn't start the site they bought it from the previous owner (GregB) about 2 years ago.
The founder of the site (Rockafella Skank) sold it to GregB fairly early on.

Sold it?... I'm confused, do you guys make money somehow? Why would anyone have to "buy" musicbanter? Rather, why would a company "buy" musicbanter?

Some people buy it because they want to have control over the community, or because they enjoy it and want to give something back, or because the current owner finds the load too much and it goes to whoever wants to give them most for it. Sometimes in such instances "buying" it may be more a verbal formality than an accurate description of what happens.

Why a music company would want to own it I'm not certain. It could be to keep tabs on taste and interest, it could be to have a slow foot in and slowly take control and make it to more of a business venture, it might just be because they like fingers in pies. Since buying it they haven't really changed how things happened though so it may just be the fingers in pies.

Some people/companies just like to add more traffic their way.

I've recently had offers for my blog and they really wouldn't be making money directly from it but I'm sure they have their reasons.
