Do you ever write anything?
I daydream a lot, and more often than not, I think about some fantastical story. Occasionally, I will write these down, and looking back at all the stories I have written there is a running total of well over 80,617 (oh sorry Briks, I mean 80.617) words of random short stories I have written. I guess you could say I love to write.
Most of what I have written is nowhere near finished, but a few of them are quite long. I use the notes app on my iPhone which syncs over my email and allows me to edit them on my computer. I enjoy free writing, because it aids in the development of my writing skills, which I plan on putting to use one day. Mostly I write the odd story based on something else, but a few are original creations. I started working on a doom-y story that started as a way to expand my powers of description, in a way that was more fun than some stock writing assignment. The strangest one I wrote is one about a knight confronting a dragon. The longest one I have written, and it is one of the few shining accomplishments in my life to this point, is 10,547 words, which equates to roughly 26 pages, and all of it is original. Enough about me, what about you? Do any of you like writing things in your free time? |
I write and throw away my life story on a daily basis. I also write in my own little private music journal where I document things and such to myself. I don't do much writing besides that, at least not anymore.

I've written about four novels I will never finish, at least two of which are trilogies. I used to write a lot (almost all the time) but got lazy and distracted and now I don't really have the self-discipline to get back into it.
If anyone wants examples I can do that... |
i write sometimes. i have an idea for a book that if i ever get around to fleshing out i would just spam online for free in the hopes that anyone might read it. i mostly just do it to record some of the **** i've seen/come across though.. i'm not all that creative i basically just take reality and tweak it slightly for the sake of storytelling

I write poetry and prose in German, a short text with illustrations from a friend is due to be released in the magazine of the academy of arts of our city soon.
I also sometimes write humorous poetry in Russian. |
This is my film blog.
I write all the time. It's the best blog on film in the galaxy and all of you should read it, like ten times a day, I don't care if you read it over again, just read it. Read it. |
Dear Diary,
Today WPNFIRE asked if he could hug me,I feel like a hug might infirnge on my personal space boundaries, and break some sort of underage rape clause... I just dont know how to feel about this.. ;) Write **** like this all the time. You are welcome, |
I write loads.

I used to write a lot more but I'm constantly documenting ideas for stories or characters. My favorite genre is creative nonfiction, I've been printed in small publications and won contests throughout the years, but nothing substantial.

Thanks guys, it's really not as impressive as it sounds. I worked for five years in the book industry, connections and zines abound.
Edit- re: The Feeling Seller, that piece got such a great reaction around here I was inspired to continue the story, perhaps I'll revisit that this week. |
I wrote some short stories in high school, but I haven't written much since apart from some poetry. I have a few ideas I've started but not finished.

It's in my blood--my dad's a published author and currently a freelance journalist--but I actually don't write much except in my journal (a real one, not The Scrap Heap) and the usual essays, reports, etc.
|
I had forgotten about articles. In high school I served two years on the school newspaper, one as a staff writer and another as an entertainment editor. Last semester I was on the writing staff for my college paper, which was published weekly so I had 10 or so articles published last year. Here's one for those interested (I won an award for this one):

I've been considering freelancing for music websites or starting my own blog as well. |
I used to write quite a bit but I've been really uninspired and disheartened artistically for an upsetting amount of time. Every time I try and go back to it I feel fake and like I'm forcing it.

Hmmm, that may have been dangerous advice considering who I am talking to. |
I wrote some music reviews that I'm pretty proud of, especially the Ditty Bops/Gentle Giant catalog reviews I link to in my sigfile, but I really can't keep up with that anymore.

Paul! Good to see you! Congrats on your Lifetime Achievement Award!

I drew alot of ****ty One Piece fan fiction in middle school. Been thinking of writing original short stories

To my eternal shame, though I've slacked off in the last few months, as a twenty-eight-yeard-old I wrote a bit of Batman fanfiction a little while ago. Don't judge me.
Fanfiction.net: The Batlord There's also all that stuff I wrote in my journal that I've likewise slacked on. How Joey DeMaio from Manowar and I Struck a Blow to the Forces of False Metal The rest is multi-chapter in multiple posts, so you'll have to do some scrolling to get to the other parts, but they're all in sequence as I didn't do any separate entries in-between. Okay, bye. |
Wrote a couple of horror short stories in the 80s that everyone who read them dug a lot. Wish I could find them. Very Steven King, Clive Barker inspired of course.
|
I've written three novels that I hope to publish one day when I'm FINALLY happy with them. Also at least thirty songs, some of which you can find on my...
