I joined here with the intention of promoting my own music but got kind of distracted with other things (i.e. getting married). I then became a lurker and occasional poster for over a year until I moved to San Jose where I was unemployed and didn't know anyone and thus started posting here a lot. Seven months or so later, I became a mod. I did that for a little over six years, which was interesting, sometimes frustrating, but kind of rewarding in terms of feeling like I was able to contribute something to a place I enjoyed spending time. I never knew how or when I'd step down. I'd think about it sometimes over the past few years and then there'd be some kind of drama going on here and I'd think, "Well, I'll at least stay on until this is resolved." Then things in my life got complicated enough that I felt like I needed to step down. So I did (after once again waiting out a little forum drama). Now I'm back to being more of a casual poster.
