Without my hypothetical infinitive universe experiment, that is an unprovable assertion. Every situation is different, so you can't apply past results to future ones. Just because some guy punched you in the face once and you kicked his ass, doesn't mean that you actually responded differently when you restrained yourself another time.

Maybe the second guy was bigger than you, maybe you were sober, maybe you were just older and not a dumbass, or any number of other reasons that could explain why you would react differently in two situations that were really only superficially alike.

Quantum physics being seemingly governed by chance might be the one thing undermining determinism.
Although there could be hidden variables, so maybe not.

He would have eaten the same things you did, with exactly the same physiological response. Why would he get indigestion and not you?

The same people in his vicinity would be in yours as well. Any mugger who might happen upon him would happen upon you as well.

See above.

Weather conditions would also be the same.

Why should the possibilities be endless? There may very well be only one possibility.
All of the above can be related to you doing different things even on different days. TBH, if you're not going to accept that there could be subtle differences between the dimensions, then you may as well not bother because who cares if there are infinite alternate universes if every single one of them is exactly the same in every detail?

I explained by theory based off of the idea that each decision makes a split and spins off into a separate alternate universe, where things are, or can be, very slightly different and outcomes vary. If you don't accept that then just agree to disagree, but you're not disproving my theory with yours, because they're both just hypothetical, and one does not have any more likelihood of being correct than the other.

If you just want to pick holes in my argument for the hell of it, go ahead. But don't think you're any more likely to be right than I could be.

Totally relevant, because it proves the math theory sometimes has huge holes in it.

I feel personally this has gone way off-topic and is developing into something of a snark between Batty, Chula and Frownland. I mean, who cares really? It's just a lighthearted topic and I think sticking to the question in the OP will cut down on drama, which is .... building .... 80% ... please stand by .... 82% ....

Just a healthy discussion. I'm not taking any offense.

Not the point. I made the thread to discuss the theory or the Grandfather Paradox, not mathematical equations and the like. Some people have been very good at discussing the possibility of such theory, even if the possibilities are completely out of proportion. Honestly, you guys going back and forth on the argument you're stuck on is making me not want to post in this thread, and it's my own damn thread.

You haven't proved anything. You're just saying that 'I don't understand this so I guess that makes it impossible to define rationally'. If you replaced the events you describe with the cheese making process and how you don't understand it, maybe you would see why me and Batlord think that you yourself are the irrational one.

This is my point. You may not be taking offence, but some of us are. A small few of you have turned this into what amounts to either a private battleground or a debate between 2-3 of you, and it's not fair to the OP. It's off topic, and I've certainly been accused (rightly) of doing this. If you want to keep arguing about semantics not directly related to the OP question I would find another thread, or make one. You're boring us all now and it's getting in the way of the discussion.

Oh, and I should say, great thread Ki. Really enjoying it.
