You can always come up with a justification for how your non-horror story is a horror story that rivals numerology in ridiculousness, but I agree.

yea but that will most likely **** me over, since if it's not written as a horror story then it's likely to be a **** horror story.

It's not hard. If you're writing about bunnies, just have one of the bunnies hack the other to death with an adorable little bunny ax.

I will try to submit something, buf I don't know if I'll have time to write. Regardless, I'll read and vote.

You could write a story about a internet troll who joins a forum and membership mysteriously declines. One by one members go missing. Did they quit the forum or were bumped off by the troll? The only clues to who the killer is are things like he has like drawing of a notorious killer or a flag of infamous terrorist group an avatar.

I honestly thought he was talking about me until he started talking about avatars.

I'd rather challenge people by getting them to write stories based on themes and genres that are normally outside of their comfort zone. If you want to just post stories of yours, there is already a thread for that. This competition is all about becoming a more well rounded writer, by adapting to different circumstances and trying out new things. Even still, there will be competitions every now and then without a theme, to push people to come up with creative writing that isn't inspired by a theme or prompt.

I understand your point of view, and writing free form is definitely fun, but that isn't the entirety of what this competition is about.

Does it have to be? I don't care what 'this thread is about', that could easily change.
