^most people do, it's not a heavily trafficked area. The rest of Turkey is super easy to travel around, eastern turkey not so much, I'll have to really brush up on my turkish before I go.

There's been a bit of activity around the border lately. It's all fighting between kurdish militants and the turkish army and it kind of ebbs and flows, 2007 was a particularly "active" time, but things have been pretty quiet for the past year or so hopefully these recent events are just minor flare-ups and won't lead to anything bigger.

well let me know how it goes, western turkey was awesome and one of the most unusual places i've been to. if eastern is anything like it, i'd love to make a trip out there sometime (granted i don't get shot at)

i'll post up a big trip report when the trip is over. From everyone I've talked to eastern turkey is like a completely different country, and I'll be travelling during ramadan which should be really interesting.

I'm going for 2 weeks. I have visited dalaman once or Maybe two times. All the rest I've never seen. Surprisingly I've been to turkey 13 times, this will be my 14th

Ahhh, I remember turning up to work still drunk a few years ago, it was a hoot! Probably the most fun I ever had at that stupid job though... speaking of which, that is where I spent most of today... at work. blah. Whatever... it was just another work day to get through...

ahhh then if you've been to marmaris already go somewhere else! marmaris is **** compared to the rest of the country! Head to Fethiye and Kas for a week, then go to Cappadocia for a few days and istanbul for a while as well. Marmaris is just a huge mega resort filled with sunburnt british tourists.

I'm not trying to be funny here. But this won't be a holiday for being a tourist, I've been so many times I know my way about. So definitely wouldn't be going there for a tourist holiday, its more a group of 18-20yr olds going on holiday for one sole reason... alcohol.
