I smiled and mumbled a thanks, but I've never had anyone compliment my pants before. It was weird.

Pants are not a normal thing to compliment, if they're of the jeans variety.

I guess in her defense, though, they're amazing jeans. My favorite pair I currently own, hands down.
I had three people complement me on my shirt on the same day when I was taking the train home from Fresno. The shirt was one I had made online for some shameless self promotion for my band Wolves In Sheepskin at parties and such. All three times I just muttered an awkward 'thank you' as I was very stoned for most of the trip, but wondered if they really knew who the shirt represented because I've never met any fans who haven't been introduced to my music without me playing the middle man. I figured they were just being nice and all, but it was certainly surreal.

Yeah, definitely. But shirts seem to be fair games. Jeans, however. Weird territory, hahaha.

But yeah, you should've been all, "Oh, you've heard of the band?" and said the next date of the show, to get some word of mouth **** going.

I can't take the same advice, though. Because, being like, "Yeah? You like these jeans? Well, I'll probably wear them again within the week. Should I call you?" doesn't have the best ring to it.

Yesterday I got a call from an old band member (Koncrete Pillo drummer) who asked me if I wanted to go on tour, opening up for Convoy Insanity. This is life changing for me. I'd have to quit my job, I'd be on the road for most of the rest of the year and into 2014 (culminating to the point of playing Daytona Beach during spring break), and there would be quite a bit of temptation that would kill my relationship with my GF of 15 years. My daughter is in college and has a job, and she's pretty much self sufficient, so no worries there. My real concern is what will this do to my future. It's quite a risk, and I'm quite comfortable with where I'm at in life. I've got a good job, and I don't have any stress other than knocking out structural drawings.

Some backstory:
Koncrete Pillo (the band I was in) used to open up for Lynt some years ago, which the singer from Convoy Insanity was in at the time, and we all became good friends. Brian (singer for Convoy/Lynt) used to sit in with us during band practice, and would even take over the mic at times. He's very talented. Since then he's achieved some semi-stardom with his new band (Convoy), and even opened up for some major acts (i.e. Pat Travers band), and has been building steam ever since.

This would be my chance to have a go at doing what I'm most passionate about. It's a slippery slope though, and I really don't want to jeopardise what I have worked my whole life to accomplish (my career as a structural designer).

Any thoughts on which direction I should take?

Some of the members of the forum where Terry was a member, including myself, have a tribute coming out soon. We cover Pink Floyds' Shine On You Crazy Diamond from scratch. It's in the final production stages right now. I'll post a link here if anyone wants to hear it.

I'm out. Peace.

Been a lovely day here, really nice. My legs and arms feel a bit itchy, think I might have burned them sitting in the sun. I love how your mood just goes up when the sun is out, it genuinely makes me happy.

I think it's a conversation you should have with your girlfriend of 15 years, I know I'd feel pretty hurt if someone I was with for that long just walked out, but on the other hand I think there are ways to make it work.

Seems like a pretty big deal, one of those "once in a lifetime" ones that you don't always get a second chance to take so I can understand your internal conflict.

As to what I would do... that's a tough one really, if I could make it work and I had some kind of idea of what my employment would look like afterwards it wouldn't be so hard, but this isn't one of those decisions I think you can make hastily.

I called her the minute I got off the phone with Keith. She's all for it actually, but I know she's just being nurturing to a point. I don't think she understands exactly what it all entails. I'm a good boy, but I know it'd be a struggle.

Yes, I'm not going into this blindly, I need to feel it out some. We're getting together this weekend to talk.

I appreciate the feedback, I need lots of opinions on this so I can see it from every angle. Mucho apprecionado.

There is only one opinion that you need and it's most likely going to be the general gist of most of the feedback you get.

Follow your dreams. It is an excellent opportunity that you may never get again.

Also you can do the whole Pros and Cons list to hash out different details. Also, I'd been more focused on setting up what will happen after the tour as far as employment goes.
