A lot of the time I smoke I'm by myself so joints are stupid. Bongs and pipes are the way to go, but joints/blunts are great in a social setting obviously with several friends

Agreed. Blunts are disgusting and leave a godawful taste on your lips for the rest of the night. I'd rather pass around a bowl in a group than a blunt, even if someone always has to bitch about getting passed a cashed bowl.

Weird smoking habits over there.
Here pretty much everybody has a bong with a bowl to fit just one hit.
If several people smoke everybody prepares a new one for himself.

Although now that I think about it glass bowls are usually big enough for several people to smoke. Still, it's not customary to do so.

This. The bowls we use can be packed pretty big and gets like 3-4 solid hits for a group of 5 dudes and then we just pack again when it's done, everyone's happy. No one feels jipped.
