hmm.. im internally debating if i should share this or not cause it will not reflect well on me.. oh f*ck it. for awhile, i used one of those car handicapped stickers just so i could park in handicapped spaces. eventually i got a guilty conscious over it and stopped doing it but for that little period i was an assh*le i never had problem finding a good parking space.

As long as you inconvenience yourself by using crutches or a wheelchair then I don't care how disabled you actually are.

Tonight is the 2nd Open Mic night I'm hosting at the cafe my daughter manages. I've been getting ready to move into a Condo all week so I'm really not prepared like I wanted to be. I just have to get through a small set list tonight and then it's all on everyone else. We had some really good musicians last time, so hopefully we'll get the same ones and a few more. If the sign-up sheet gets filled, then I'm off the hook and can just sit back, drink free beer, and enjoy everybody else's show, all while slightly tweaking and adjusting the new PA for different styles/approaches as different acts come up to the stage.

Out of curiosity does the cafe tend to attract particular genres? Or is there a surprising variety of musicians? In cafes out here I very rarely see anything outside the walls of folk / light indie rock, almost exclusively acoustic guitarists and vocalists. I get that the atmosphere draws lighter music but it'd be nice to walk in on some blues or maybe something jazzy every once in a while.

That's pretty much the norm here too, with the exception of me playing over some BT's that have bass/drums (I also use my Digitech Trio pedal if I need to take up more time), and then there were two comedians last time, and a country singer/guitarist. It was a good mix though, and everyone really enjoyed it all.

That's pretty much been my experience with open mics. I was the exception with my free jazz noise nonsense.

"The Brutal Goregrind Blues" sounds like a song that will exist at some point in the future. You laugh, but so would many at the concept of "Raped by Elephants".

I honestly would have been receptive just to see the look of confusion and revulsion on all the families out for a nice night out. The fact that you didn't jump into the audience and literally spit in anyone's face would have bored me though.
