If you did fail then you didn't build yourself up to any great height only to be knocked back down. Seriously, pessimism is a very underrated mindset.

I used nod along with my parents and agree that I'd get x amount of a's etc. Then when this didn't materialise I would just feign deep shock, just walk around blank faced saying nothing being really depressed, after about 3 days they'd be begging me to return to my usual slightly more jovial self and write the exams off as one of those things.

I was always pessimistic about exam results, convincing myself that I wouldn't get good grades. Then I came my pants when I got an 'A'. Best day ever.

Since I took AP classes in high school, I get to start college as a sophomore at my community college and transfer in a year and a half. And since I hung out with a group of acid heads who didn't give two shit about school but wanted to go to college for the party, almost all of my friends are going to go to the same college. Plus I have a pretty laxed schedule which will make good time for music endeavours, parties and the likes.

Just outside of Harrison. We took the long way home and stopped by Silver Lake Dunes. Buggies, and Quads. Cool place.

My ex-wife's new boyfriend has been messaging me and talking sh*t. Saying that he's the new man of the house and that my son loves him more than me. I can't wait to get my hands on this punk.

Sounds like a prick. He obviously feels threatened if he's giving you ****.

LoathsomePete 08-16-2012 08:58 PM

I found out that someone died in the room I'll be moving into. It's not really a problem with me, and to be honest I'm a little disappointed that the chalk outline still isn't on the floor, I mean the room is covered in graffiti and it looks like it's been a squat at some point so what the fuck?

Back in my twenties I was living in a block of flats. One morning as I was going out the stairwell smelled like the dumpster behind a fish market and when I got out front I saw a white van with white painted windows. I found out later the guy upstairs from me had died and had been there for some time. Thing is I couldn't even tell you what they looked like because I rarely saw any of my neighbours but having smelt his rotting flesh it felt like we were weirdly connected. Anyway that's one of the reasons I'm vegetarian LOL.

That reminds me of a funny story from two years ago when I did a ride along with the police and we got a welfare check call on an old guy who hadn't been heard from for a few days and now a strange smell was emanating from the apartment. Sadly he had a cat so he didn't have much of a face left. Not really sure why that's funny, must have been one of those "you had to be there" moments.

Still a bit brave really, I suppose without the personal connection to the person it's going to have less of a stigma. Having said that, my neighbourhood is unusual because I live no less than a mile up the hill from two notorious places - one was the house of Dr. Harold Shipman, one of England's worst mass-murderers, and the other being the house used for the "moors murders" - one of the singularly most horrible cases of mass child slaughter in the country.
The point is that after the two murderers were imprisoned for life, absolutely no-one went near the house. It was left deserted until the council had to destroy it.

The reason for saying this is that there are interesting consequences to houses associated with death - if you're not bothered by the fact that people were killed in the house, then you may find yourself getting it at quite a good bargain price. Personally, I guess everyone has to die at some point, it doesn't at all surprise me that I might find a property in which a death has taken place.

Now, if anyone was wondering how my results went - I certainly did a lot worse than I hoped, and despite getting the top grade in my best subject, let's say I'll have to rule out applying for Cambridge like dad always was hoping. However, I've done fine, there are still plenty of great unis I'm perfectly on target for and I'm actually happy because this releases me from a lot of pressure!

Howard the Duck 08-17-2012 10:05 AM

i don't believe in that "Shining" crap if that's what you mean

Finding it really difficult to focus today. I have some website work to do and I can't find the motivation or drive to get it done.

Not the best of days.

Derek shouted me today from inside his room as I was going out to get something to eat. No idea what he wanted but when I got back he had his door open like he did before when he was getting drunk and going round the house socialising despite it being patently obvious none of us want to socailise with each other. He was laid on his bed but didn't say anything as I went in my room neither did he say anything went I went down the landing to the toilet and when I went again later he'd got his door shut so hopefully he'll realise he's just going to have to be sad lonely on his own. ha ha ha

Janszoon 08-17-2012 03:07 PM

I finally succeeded today at doing a full neck bridge with my nose to the mat. That was pretty killer. I've already been using the more basic version for a few little spots in wrestling training, and being able to do this makes me even more confident that my neck is strong and not gon' get ****ed up. Knock on wood.

Also found out about a killer show in a few weeks with Defiance, Ohio and a few more bands TBA. Pretty stoked for that.

Mainly spent today staring at my phone, though, hoping that I'd get a call offering me the job I just interviewed for. Just call center ****, but it pays all right.

Derek stole Janzoon's toast, and he pissed in my bottle of orange juice. Inconsiderate bastard.

Frownland 08-17-2012 09:19 PM

Had my last full week at work end today and went to the horse races with my company (tickets, food, drinks all paid for) and won 330 dollars in the second of seven races. Since I was the top winner in my section, in the fifth race I got to go to the winner's circle and watch the horses cross the finish line, meet the winning jockey and the horse, the works. For my first time at the horse races (and first time gambling as well) I'd say that this is a pretty great start!

Could ruin my life if I keep thinking that every time at the races will be like this, though.

Burning Down 08-17-2012 09:22 PM

My last full week of work for this summer is next week. I'm sad about it because it's a great place to work. I was even offered a full time position there, but I'm still in school.

Speaking of which, sort of...Today I went to have a shower and found water dripping from the ceiling. So, thinking their might be a flood going on I shouted to the guy upstairs then went and banged on his door to tell him with the inevitable result that he got annoyed. Then he said, with a bit of arsey attitude, 'you better ring the landlord then hadn't you.'. Then he came down while I was on the phone to the landlord and asked me for the phone whereupon he talked to the landlord. After he'd finsihed he gave me the '****in' hell I though the house was on fire' line. Also while I was talking to the landlord he'd said 'we've known about this for about 9 mths but haven't been able to find out where the leaks coming from' which is obvioulsy just bull to cover up the fact he didn't want to shell out squids to have a plumber come and sort it out. Also also this expaliins why there's been water all over the landing outside the shower and it's not, as I'd suspected, because Derek the wanker had been coming out of the shower dripping wet. So i'm glad I didn't confront him about now dripping water all over the landing and just leaving it.

I can't even wrap my head around stuff like that. How long have you been doing it? You must be tough, cause I reckon I would last all of 5 minutes before opting for a pint and a smoke instead.
