Yeah, I uploaded cover art for a Shell Corporation album a few weeks before I graduated and it still hadn't come back yet. :/

Zhanteimi 07-18-2016 07:56 AM

There are 10500 images pending. Nearly 400 were submitted just yesterday, but only 100 have been approved today. :/

Went to my favorite bar/venue, Yerberia Cultura. Pre-gamed before with cheap whiskey and coke and a glass of red wine. I get there and get asked by an 8th grade history teacher if I'm registered to vote and follow that with a 30 minute convo about politics. After that I immediately shoot for the bar and get all the PBR's they have left. Now I'm drunk. Running out of smokes, thank God I bought a pack before I showed up. I get asked by a girl for a cigarette, she gets incredibly thankful because I had menthols. Then she tells me I'm gorgeous and loves my Bowie shirt. I start to think "yes, this girls cute as fuck and she's calling me gorgeous, I'm getting laid tonight". But then says "THIS IS MY WIFE, SHE'S IN THE BAND TONIGHT". Damn. Old Peter (my cock) will have to wait a few more nights.

Then I go to the bathroom and make a joke while at the urinal, now I'm washing my hands and this dude hands me a bottle of the same cheap whiskey I drank hours before (Kentucky Deluxe). I take a shot and head back into the crowd. Now the main act is on, they were called Pinata Protest and I was front row. They were a straight up Mexican punk band. You can't make this shit up. It was actually badass. So then I try and crowd surf and I'm on the guard rail and jump but I land on people and they immediately put me down. It was just not happening. But hey I tried.

Then the concert ends and I go back to my car. Guess what. My lights were on the whole time. My battery was dead. Fuck me sideways. I go back and ask everybody for spark plugs and of course nobody has any. Long story short this guy with my name helps me out and this nice couple jump start the shit out of my car. To quote Kanye: "I was drinkin' earlier, now I'm driviin". Got home pretty safe. It was great.

I was going to call you a ****ing idiot for drinking and driving, but you threw a Yeezy quote in at the end so I'll let you live.

Quoting Kanye is much more concerning than drinking and driving that's already been said and done.

Drinking and driving could take a life, listening to Kanye could save one.

But at what cost? How can a life of listening to grossly inferior music be anything but worse than death? If you're considering trying Kanye, just kick the chair or pull the trigger or whatever you're going to do, we don't want you here.

Exo 07-18-2016 10:23 AM

I've tried listening to his albums and honestly don't understand why he's so popular.

Generally? Yes. However, this situation has passed my statute of giveafuckitations.

The past few days have been abnormally good for me. I don't know what it is, but I'm actually quite cheery recently. The forums are more active than usual, I'm almost done with Solaris (best novel ever), and I had a CCR marathon yesterday which always makes me happy.

Solaris is amazing.
Is the English translation well done?
For some reason the only available German translation of Solaris is terrible, as if a monkey did it. Too bad, since I'd love to let some German fiends read it.

JGuy Grungeman 07-18-2016 10:52 AM

I don't speak Polish, but it's a fantastic novel. I'd say it's a very well done translation. You know how pickly I am when rating novels despite my optimism? I use a 1-100 scale, and it's fairly rare I give a 100 to a novel. This is 200, and that's the Engish translation. I'm not joking. Best novel I ever read beforehand wad Frankenstein, and this is literally twice as good.

Yeah, it's pretty mindblowing. And while it's Lem's best, his other stuff is absolutely worth checking out as well.

Frownland 07-18-2016 11:00 AM

I read Solaris pretty recently too. Big fan of Tarkovsky's dialogue when it's printed at the bottom of the screen.

JGuy Grungeman 07-18-2016 11:24 AM

Subtitles were nevr very distracting for me. I mean, even if it is distracting, I still greatly enjoy the show.

I'd say it's a pretty eventful day for me.

Plankton 07-18-2016 12:10 PM

I went to a huge block party yesterday with a couple friends. On the way out, one friend stopped to use one of the many Port-A-John's that were available while the rest of us waited about 10 feet from it. We waited for a good 20 minutes thinking he was dropping a deuce or something. Then, we panicked. I started pounding on the door yelling his name, only to discover that a young lady was in the one we thought he was in. We started pounding on all of them while yelling his name, only to annoy the **** out of everyone. I called his phone, no answer. We were like "What the **** happened to Tommy?". Then I got a call from him saying that we weren't there when he came out of the Port-A-John, and that he was already at the car. Wtf? So, we start heading to the car, and on the way there's Tommy walking in the other direction saying something about how he's just gonna walk home because he's all butthurt that I'm kinda pissed at this point. I threw my half full can of beer at him and said "Whatever, Princess", and left (after picking the empty beer can back up off someone's lawn).

Now I'm kinda sad. He's been a good friend for 20 years.
