It's cultural appropriation breh.

I would bet 50 dollars we're going to end up with ****ing Mumford and Sons night or something stupid like that now. What we really need is a Danny Brown night, that would really do the trick.

Now that would be offensive. If they do that I say retaliate and say that they're trying to replace black culture with white culture like imperialist swine.

As far as graphic design goes (and I would indeed be the authority on this) the field is VERY competitive, and if you haven't gotten that much practice yet (like, being as involved with it as I was throughout HS) it's gonna be hard to break in with the few years of experience you have in high school. I will say that it's a very fun field, and it isn't too awfully difficult to get into but it will be to master it.

An another note, it could be a stretch but wouldn't it be awesome if you studied business and we set up our own studio/label thing?

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 10-26-2016 06:44 AM

It's funny you mention that, a friend of mine keeps suggesting we take out a small business loan and open a record store & label. The idea sounds great to me, but I honestly find business degrees usually end up being a waste of time, and I'm not convinced that (at least in halifax) there isn't enough money involved.

How does an 18-year-old come to the conclusion that business degrees are a waste of time?

The Batlord 10-26-2016 09:54 AM

And the place where my neck meets my shoulders has been in serious pain the last three days. It's not so bad usually, and I pop like six Aspirin before biking to work, but when I ride home and the pills have worn off it's like torture. Holding the handlebars makes my shoulder blades squeeze that exact spot, and every bump is like getting punched in the back by Mike Tyson. I don't know how much longer this **** is gonna go on, but I can't take that ****ing **** anymore.

When I got home today I popped six more Aspirin and stood under a hot shower for five minutes until I couldn't feel my shoulders anymore.

Probably has absolutely nothing to do with the hours upon hours you spend laying on your side playing video games. Nope. Totally not because of that at all.

Because from my experience it's what people do when they are unsure of what they should be taking. It's not a waste if you have an end goal, but it doesn't seem like a lot of people I know taking business do.

@ Trit

Yeah, it sucks. I wanted to take a year off and work but my parents raised me to believe that I absolutely had to go to university as soon as I finished high school. I'm sure I'll figure something out, but I'm pretty miserable about it in the mean time.

Yeah, accounting only has basic math that you can do on a basic calculator, you don't even need a scientific one for it. It's such a weird association that people make that accounting means math. Accounting just means numbers but very basic math at that. It's more about learning the principles behind it. I love numbers and I do well in math but I don't love all areas of math. Statistics and Geometry can suck my left nut.

Your birthday or someone else's? If yours then Happy Belated Birthday. If someone else's then tell them Happy Belated Birthday for me. lol that conversation "Some random guy in NY wanted me to tell you happy belated birthday. Yeah, it's no one that you know he just wanted to wish you birthday greetings."

From your experience which isn't much. A business degree is more worthwhile than some of the other fluff degrees. You know what people take when they are unsure what they should be taking Psychology. I always groan when I hear someone mention that they are majoring in Psych. 9 times out of 10 they won't finish it and end up switching majors.

Yeah, that's how I felt last night and I ended up bailing on an important meeting that I needed to go to. The meeting was about how PFOS seeped into our water supply and why the whole city's water supply had to be shut down and re-routed from a different lake/aquaduct. I'm getting tested soon to make sure that I don't have PFOS in my blood or that the levels are very low. High serum levels of PFOS are associated with increased risk of chronic kidney disease. So I definitely want to find out.

Installed my new hard drive in my Mac, just waiting for it to finish restoring my last back up. 5 Days without a laptop has made me realize just how addicted to technology I am.

I went almost 5 days without power in January and felt no withdrawal symptoms of any sort (but I was still bored as **** since we were virtually trapped in our neighborhood). Grow a ****ing pair.

Last time a hurricane knocked out our power I came to hate the sterile, obnoxious light of incandescent bulbs. They are an aesthetically inferior light source to candles and gas lamps and it would be nice if those were not such an impractical alternative. Reading by the warm light of a gas lamp in the dead quiet of a powerless world was something I really grew to love.

In the 90s I lived without power for 2 years, deep in the bush in Northern New South Wales. We still had a tape player that ran off batteries. It is something you grow to love, and when I came back to Adelaide not having a fire going felt pretty strange (as did sleeping indoors). I was also clueless about pop culture references of the time - I'd never heard of Seinfeld or The Simpsons but people were quoting them incessantly.

Cult?

Aloysius 10-26-2016 11:29 PM

No, just squatting in the forest with a bunch of people. At one point I even held down a job (picking coffee berries) while living in a tree house - I saved up lots of cash not having to pay rent. A lot of that sort of thing goes on over there.

I've been smoking for years, but never got lung cancer before. Therefore I doubt it was caused by smoking.

I lie like this literally all the time while on the computer or playing video games, whereas I was throwing differently while drunk on Saturday and only play disc golf around once or twice a month.

Yeah that sounds pretty cool. Living off the grid a bit. Not having to pay rent/mortgage is nice also!

Frownland 10-27-2016 10:25 AM

Went out with a friend last night, had two liters of Belching Beaver's Oktoberfest brews, commandeered a bass and a guitar from these two guys and showed them up with some jazz, and got kicked out of a biker bar. I'm still drunk.
