But I think his greater argument basically dismisses this as largely unimportant in the face of bigger problems. If we're going to be concerned with rights, then even if progress is being made, it's still hypocritical and misses the entire point of the exercise.

If feminism ignores things like legal inequalities in regards to parental rights, domestic violence, divorce, etc, then it ceases to be a human rights movement and becomes just another self-interest lobbying group, no different from the NRA.

It's probably been said in the last 11 pages, but I'll reiterate in response to the original question: We seem to perceive human rights as a limited resource, meaning that if someone gets MORE rights, there are fewer rights remaining for the rest of us. Which doesn't make any ****ing sense, but that's how we act about it. So people respond to men's rights issues as if men, asserting their rights, are trying to take even more rights away from groups of people with too few of them.

Men's rights by its very definition just comes off as whining majority of the time.

The MRA movement just seems like it was started to be the counter to Rad Fems.

Whether or not I agree with the MRA movement I'll give them props for being about facts over feelings, unlike *cough* the hardcore left.
