Loeb and Leopold had 150 and 158 iq's. Carrol Cole had a 152. Andrew Cunanan surprisingly had a 147 iq. There are many more that fall in the genius level but i'm not gonna look anymore up. Ted Bundy is the exception to being genius maybe because he wasn't.

I knew it. I always remember hearing about how mentally gifted serial killers were, otherwise I wouldn't have mentioned it.

Even more so today being that information is at your fingertips and we have all the answers if we choose to look.

And Ki, you should have stuck by your convictions man. Don't accept other peoples answers for truth, dig a little deeper.

Not so fast.....

Average IQ is 94.7 based on a study of over 2,000 serial killers. There's certainly quite a few very bright ones but there's also quite a few who don't have many lights on in the attic.

My whole point with bringing intelligence into the equation stems from the fact that most if not all serial killers have the mental capacity to allow their brain to put aside the remorse that comes with death. There's gotta be a special kind of intelligence that it takes to be able to put that remorse aside to continue on the murderous road that those guys fall under. I remember warching several interviews of serial killers where they were able to answer questions with a sense of intelligence in their answers.

That's why I think it'd be fascinating to be able to sit down with one and ask them questions about their life. They can verbally demonstrate their intelligence through words.

I suspect that the ones who get the most notice, and have the highest IQs, are probably the ones who are smarter than your average serial killer. They would be more likely to escape notice and go on to kill more people, and body count is a large decider for who gets the most press.

I think the way the killer does his business is another way they get more press. Especially if the press is able to label what the killer was famous for. I.e. Ted Bundy and females or Dahmer and homosexuals. But you make a good point regardless.

The more creative serial killers might have higher IQs I guess, but I don't know if more creative artists in general have higher IQs than less creative ones, so I don't know if that is a relevant criteria. And yeah, I guess I would describe serial killing as an art in a ****ed up sense. It's certainly not a science. *shrug*

I mentioned in my first post that I classify an interest in serial killers to be in the same league as having an interest in horror games and the like. So yes, you could potentially consider it an art in a really ****ed up kind of way.

I'd be interested in a book that evaluated the artistic sensibilities of serial killers. Would be one of those books like that autobiography of OJ Simpson that got banned. Just complete and total outrage but you can't not read it.

And who knows, maybe Jeffrey Dahmer's cannibalism is absolute poetry.

I'd read the **** out of something like that. It'd probably be gruesome and dark but it'd really open people's eyes to what a serial killer is capable of mentally. That's where my interest stems from when it boils down to the simpler things. I'm jealous of the people that get to interview killers as well as the people who get to analyze the brain chemistry after a killer has died. It must be mind blowing.
