Not quite the same when it's in a book.

Another author who does this, but who I like, is Stephen Donaldson. My brother has a phrase: "Donaldson has to describe every blade of grass on the journey." It's not far from the truth. I do a lot of exposition and setting up with my own work, but I try to check it when it looks like it might be getting boring (which is never, of course!) ![]() I just don't get King. He's dined out on Carrie, The Shining and Salem's Lot, maybe Pet Semetary and a few others for decades now, but most of the stuff he writes seems to be pretty standard grade, yet you'll meet many people who will tell you "Oh all I read is Stephen King." ![]()

From what I've seen, common core math makes a lot of sense and most likely helps kids understand large numbers and how to approach using them in math a lot better.

What they expect is reasonable. The kids stop doing math after 3rd grade. Try teaching fractions to kids who don’t understand what division is. If the people who profit from common core would back a system that doesn’t allow 5-10% of the students to make the class unteachable it would be fine. No one. And I mean literally no one. Can teach or learn with five kids shouting profanity non-stop for the entire class. And the way they test common core is insane. You give a three hour exam broken into four segments on computer in schools that only carry enough bandwidth for one grade to take it at one time. Other classes have restricted movement all day and drive the teachers insane. The kids being tested sleep through the exam. Then the teacher gets branded unsatisfactory. But yeah, it’s pretty good. Give it a try. See how those low income So Cal students react to it. I’m sure they would love your white ass.
