Any Christian song that can make me cry is beyond next level. What a way to send a bunch of dudes back to their cells to get beaten by guards and raped by their bunk mates.

Pharoah Sanders easily takes the top spot as the greatest artist from Arkansas. His talent took him out west, then back east to NYC and ultimately all over the world. He’s one of the greatest jazz musicians of all time. It’s a myth that Sun Ra gave him the name “Pharoah”. He clearly states that it’s the actual pronunciation of his given name which his grandmother recommended to his mother. When he lived in San Francisco he went by the nickname “Little Rock”. I love him.

It's Pharaoh. ****ing. Sanders. Hold your criticism of jazz enthusiasm for praise of less titanic artists.
