Today I learned that Batlord has not tried coke, which is a club that I'm also a member of. People say the buzz is short, the comedown is harsh and it's v expensive; that's 3 reasons to keep away imo.

idk where else to post this so

today i want to learn: are multivitamins bullshit or??

Whether or not multivitamins are BS? idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I asked my doctor about multivitamins. He told me all they do is make your pee yellow. I know you're not going to eat a bottle of vitamins, but the reason I post it cause it's like a crash course on vitamins. Which ones are water soluble and which ones are fat soluble etc etc.

This Is What Happened To His Bones.

^ I once took them for about two years, then gave up with no discernable difference to my health. Most averagely balanced diets deliver most of the vits we need, I believe, so multivits are only useful if you have some unusually bad diet. PLUS I read that the body can only absorb x milligrams of vit Y a day. If you crank up that quant with multivits, you're just making your liver and stuff work harder to get rid of excess junk, which is why it's chucking out that famously yellow pee.

Bottom line: eat a bit of fruit and veg instead is my (unprofessional) opinion.

The Batlord 10-16-2019 05:51 PM

It helps if for every 1 meat you have 2 veg.

^ Is that a piece of dietary advice or a reference to the doble entendre that we sometimes use in Britain? This pic might help anyone struggling to guess the second meaning of the phrase:-

On Skeptics Guide to the Universe they said the science in still unclear but most hypotheses turn out to be false. The hypothesis here being one can successfully make up part of their nutritional needs from a less than ideal diet by supplementing with multivitamins. It has not been proven or disproven at this point, according to the medical doctor on the podcast, but it probably does nothing or very little.

He’s probably right but I still take vitamins lol. I have a problem with muscle spasms, hurts like goddamn, I think b12 and magnesium and potassium plus **** loads of water help. I try to eat bananas and drink coconut juice but if I don’t have any I’ll pop some pills. Who the **** knows? No one apparently.

It became sport for the stews to collect the $100 bills after everyone on the plane had passed out.

Pretty sure that was GZA.

Today I learned my favorite kebab place was featured in an article about the best world cuisine in Maryland. Glad they're getting some recognition.

Sorry Batlord! I left it a few days before checking, as your joke seemed to've stopped everyone in their tracks. I guess that was in tribute to it's quality ;)

The Batlord 10-23-2019 05:49 PM

This seems to be a pattern. And now you've taken Trollheart's mantle of explainer of my thread ruining jokes.

Lisnaholic 10-23-2019 06:28 PM

I wouldn't like to get a reputation for that, so, moving on, today I learned that Hindu's pray in a lotus position because it's disrespectful to show the dirty soles of their feet to the idol they are addressing.

Grats Lisna. Keep up the excellent work.

The Batlord 10-23-2019 07:15 PM

Now he just needs to start making threads nobody asked for.

DwnWthVwls 10-24-2019 04:38 AM

That would be fantastic. Anything that annoys you makes me happy.

The Batlord 10-24-2019 08:48 AM

The best thread on MB would be "The Worst Trollheart Threads".

Great trade but NEVER get lazy about safety. Machine operator + lax on safety = emergency room visit with a bag of ice keeping part of an appendage cold.

It's really ****ing cool watching some of those machines at work.

Kicking back, churning the water beneath me, reading a comic. Basically nothing better.

Putting aside the comic, I gotta say the rest of the sentence immediately brought this to mind.

I ran a turret lathe for a while at Chicago Roll quite a few years ago. It gets a bit mind numbing after a few months, but it's good work. I was in between jobs as a CAD guy and I'd take any job really (mechanic, welding, shop clean-up, gas station attendant, etc.) when ever I found myself in that situation, and this place happened to be right next door to where I was staying at the time, so it was really convenient. I learned fast and was cranking out pipe form rolls with the best of them. Pretty soon the owners found out about my CAD abilities and started fighting over where I should be placed, either in the drafting dept. or keep me where I was. That's when I decided to tell them I was just their until I found a job in my chosen field, which was drafting, and they weren't too happy about that so they fired me right there on the spot. About an hour after they fired me I got a job working at GMEMD designing the SD90MAC locomotive working with Unigraphics, which is a Unix based CAD system, now called Siemens NX.

Blew my mind once I saw these things in action how much cooling and lubricant fluid is used during the cutting.

Im doing CAM (computer Aided manufacutring) at my school and they dont really even hire for it here. They hire from my school as machinists but the instructors teaching the class have told me to not expect to be CAM work, riight after graduation because its probably hired within ranks of the company. Its nice to have on my resume though

Sometimes you have to make your own opportunities and 'get your foot in the door', as they say. Mostly, employers are looking for positive, forward thinking self-starters. What you know from school is secondary. You just have to be teachable and willing to learn.

Chula Vista 11-14-2019 07:52 PM

I say fluid and you ask jelly.

And I'm the one dense?

As much as he's being grabbed and forced around there's no way he had the leverage for a good hit. Listen to those pearl clutching announcers though.
