I keep worrying of city-data also,,, Its quite hot on the political base there and im worried the staff might just get fed up and take it down.... CD is probably the BEST site im on and I wouldnt wanna ever lose it!!

Perhaps we need an official MusicBanter twitter account with only the spiciest of takes to garner new members. Plus we could retweet Pitchfork and troll them and their audience.

I think part of it is that the forum software hasnt been updated...well...ever. Maybe I am misremembering but when I joined in 2007 (Jesus Christ thats 15 years ago now) it looked the same.

Nearly every other forum i have been a member of since then has updated its look and function making it much more pleasant to use.

In fairness, they do try to make it harder and more annoying to use (my problems with "access denied" messages on my return being a case in point, also the site going down regularly for a while). I suppose they want to keep us on our toes. Or are lazy. Or both.
