This is how I remember it, FETCHER:
Something like 8 years ago there was a long sprawling debate because somebody wanted to reverse one of Urban's bans. I can't remember who was involved but member X wanted to have member Y re-instated, and was chipping away at Urban's decision and authority as a mod. It dragged on for quiet a while, until Urban finally quit in a way that was spectacular and irrevocable. He posted "I quit!" in mega-bold font in a couple of threads, and has never posted since. :(

He's actually posted a few times since but nothing of any lasting nature.

That question surprises me, Batlord; I expected you to be the one to correct me factually and post links to the relevant threads.

I think no-one got unbanned: it was an unsuccessful campaign to re-instate Sansa/Hermione, argued if I remember with the kind of passionate appeal to high ideals that you might hear in the International Court of Human Rights. That was how it managed to drag on forever, with Urban getting ever more fed up.

Was it WWWP arguing for her? That's a big name to get to quit the forum.

I miss Urban. His top 100 had a profound influence on the evolution of my musical taste as a young teenager. I'll always appreciate him for that. Snarky bastard with some seriously great taste in music.
