Alice in Chains - Man in the Box - Lyrics Meaning

Alice in Chains is a rock band that's from the state of Washington. The band consists of Jerry Cantrell, Sean Kinney, Mike Inez and William DuVall. Legendary singer (former lead vocalist) Layne Staley died in 2002.

Released in '91, 'Man in the Box' made what Alice in Chains is today. The song played on MTV quite a bit and was featured on shows, movies and more. The song and what it means to the band is a bit hard to understand.

The song is about how the band found themselves. The band had some troubles in the past when it came to finding the direction that they needed. The music video is unique to say the least. There is really no moral or meaning behind the lyrics, there is just what you want to make out of it and that's it. However there is some revelation to the lyrics: "Feed my eyes, can you sew them shut? Jesus Christ, deny your maker. He who tries, will be wasted. Feed my eyes now you've sewn them shut."

Throughout the lyrics, you do hear what it seems to be a progressing want to accomplish something or a need to think of something of great importance.
