'War and Peace'.

I'm on the third book at the moment. I slightly regret undertaking this. The language is so tautological: I'm not sure if it's the translation barrier, but I do find myself quite frustrated with the pace sometimes. That said, it's quite amazing how so many characters are introduced and yet have very clear pictures in my mind.

Never read it nor have I seen any movie/cartoon rendition of it before. Amazon seems to suggest this particular translation. I'm beginning to think that the introduction alone might be worth its price. Looking forward to the world of heroes, demons, dragons, treasures and all that other jazz.

I was also looking at the version of Beowulf today at the bookstore, but settled on this instead:

I'm kind of confused by that, everything about Hades is fictional, or are you talking about the ancient myths vs. newer fiction using him as a character? If that's the case then the ancient myths.

Yeah I suppose that was a bit ridiculous. What I meant was, are you looking for something that explains how he was worshiped and things like that or are you looking for a story wherein he's the central character.

No! I'm talking about the myths that have Hades as a central character, or at least in the myth somewhere. Like how Heracles' final labour was to bring Cerberus out from the underworld unharmed and without using any weapons, stuff like that.
