I watched five minutes of My Brother is an Only Child, but all that masturbation prompted me to leave my parents to watch it themselves.

I've been meaning to see this movie ever since it came out and I finally got around to watching it. I'm a big fan of Darren Aronofsky but this film didn't hit me as hard as his others, probably because I barely understand what I just watched. Hopefully after a couple more views I'll understand the plot a little more. Besides the story, it was a visual masterpiece. The scenes in the future with the tree were amazing to watch. And Clint Mansell's score complemented the movie perfectly.

^ There's a graphic novel that was written alongside the movie that actually clarifies things a great bit. Some things that aren't made clear: the giant glass sphere is a spaceship, because our protagonist has found the tree of life he is able to undertake a trip to Xibalba. The story of the scientist and the astronaut can be seen as continuous, although I don't think that's necessary. The story of the conquistador is obviously a metaphor.

I watched this movie once when I was half asleep and totally didn't get what was going on :/ But I want to give it another spin some time.

It's a decent enough movie with some good ideas behind it, but I wasn't exactly blown away by it either. I'd imagine it rewards repeated viewing though.

And, you're right, the visuals for all those tree sequences were just mindblowing

The Fountain is an absolutely stunning film and definitely gets better with each viewing.

Goodbye Lenin.

In German, with no subtitles, my bf was summarizing what was going on sparatically, so the little bit I understood made it seem like a good movie, but i'm still unsure.
